Before Maria had left, she had pulled up a Skype account and showed him step by step how it worked. He had scoffed at her and mumbled something about "Midgardian peasantry devices." Maria had laughed and kissed him goodbye, leaving for the next two weeks on a mission for Shield.
She sat in her hotel room and pulled up the computer a few days later, and smiled when she noticed the green bubble above the god's name, laughing when the ping of a call rang through the speakers.
"Loki, how good to see you using peasant devices."
"I'll admit they do hold some charm if it means I can see your face." Loki's innocent smile caused Maria to raise an eyebrow.
"What have you done?"
"You wound me woman. I haven't done anything."
"Liar." Maria laughed and let her hair down, thankful to be in the hotel at last and away from prying eyes.
"On occasions, yes. I've done nothing but what you would allow me to do.. I must say that neighbor of yours.."
"You mean our neighbor? You didn't kill him did you?" Maria rolled her eyes, but the sparkle in the blue crystals showed the absence of anger.
"Of course not. I simply turned his hair green and set his car on fire.. Don't interrupt me Maria, he wasn't in it. No one was hurt."
Maria laughed, "I'll be gone for one week more. Can you keep the fires to a minimum please?"
Loki grumbled but promised, which Maria took with a trunk full of salt. "Yes dear. Can't you come home earlier? I don't have the patience to make those sweets you fix for me."
Maria crinkled her nose, "There's celery in the fridge darling. I'll be home soon enough. I miss you too."
"Rabbit food. I'll just go to the bakery then if you won't come fix them for me."
"You won't.. you know my cookies are better."
"Fine woman. Hurry up."
"Such impatience for a prince.. I have to go now Loki. I'll see you in a week, alright?"
"Fine."
"Stop pouting. I love you. Goodnight Loki."
"Goodnight Maria."
She shut down her computer and turned to her bed, jumping in the air when she saw the god lounging like a cat.
"Asshole." She muttered, causing the god to laugh.
