"You need to stop this", Jack's voice was cold as he spoke this. Hatter met his gaze, not sure she knew what he was talking about.

"Stop what?"

"This rebellion, your obsession to kill The Queen, it's becoming unhealthy." Hatter only laughed.

"And you're saying that there's a healthy way for me to take over Wonderland?" She asked with a smirk.

"Why do you need to take over Wonderland in the first place?" His voice was full of exasperation.

"Jack, you don't understand."

"You're right, I don't." Hatter's eyes met the floor when he said this. "Hatter", Jack's voice softened. "I'm just worried about you. I don't like what this is doing to you."

"You think I'm going insane?" Hatter asked slowly as she lifted her gaze from the ground.

"No, no. It's just...I think you're loosing yourself. Is power really the only thing that you want, because, if it isn't, you need to get out of this while you still can." Jack tired to take her hand, but she pulled it away from him.

"Do you really think that woman is fit to rule Wonderland?" Hatter looked him in the eye as she asked this.

"No, but you don't have to be the one to stop her."

"You're the one who is always trying to be the hero, you of all people should understand, that if I sit around waiting for someone else to do this it won't get done! I'm the only one who can over throw her!" Hatter saw a look of pure sadness fill Jack's eyes.

"If this is what you think you want I'm not going to try to stop you, but you are playing a dangerous game. And I don't think I want to be apart of it." He turned to leave the room.

"Jack, wait", Jack wanted to stop when he heard the fear in Hatter's voice. He didn't want to leave her, but he felt as if he didn't know her anymore.

"I'm sorry", was all he managed to say before he bolted from the room.
Hatter watched him leave and tried to bury the emotions that she was feeling. She knew that he was right, she was loosing herself, become the person that his love had kept her from being. She had never told him that she was Alice's alter ego. He didn't know Alice yet, so she hadn't seen the point.

She wasn't her own person, but she wish more than ever that was. That way she wouldn't need power. She hadn't explained this to Jack, she told herself he wouldn't understand. That had been the only secret that she had kept from him, and it had driven him away.

Hatter told herself that he didn't matter, but she knew that was a lie. She been a fool a to let herself fall in love. Now, once again, she had nothing.
