(As mentioned in the author notes, this is a sequel to "Lost."

I try not to bastardize Marth too much; please don't hold it against me.

Another Chance

Prologue

Every morning begins the same.

The same sun rising, unless there's clouds in the sky.

The same dry dawn, unless moisture blankets the ground.

The same pain... whose only variant is intensity.

He always wakes with a sense of longing in his heart; come shine or rain or snow, every morning gives him the unwanted gift of loneliness.

This morning, it's particularly intense; the sky cries its crystalline tears, the drops pelting at his window and drawing out of his sleep.

As he rubs the drowsiness out of his sapphire eyes, a memory surfaces in his mind; he recalls that it was on a day like this, almost two years ago, that everything started to go downhill...

Marth refuses to take any blame, but Pit knows that the prince did nothing to improve the situation. His false apologies mean nothing to the angel, whose hardened heart laughs at the facade of kindness...

Two years ago, Pit was weak. He had something; all that was required for it to stay was loyalty. He couldn't do that; he had failed, falling victim to old habits and tempting words.

When he lost that something, his world crumbled under his feet...

He was weak then.

But things have changed.

Now, as he sits up, his eyes flicker with the flames of of a forming hope; his once malleable spirit becomes like a fortress, undisturbed by the questionable motives of others.

Pit will not be used again.

If losing Ike has taught him anything...

It's taught him that he needs to live.
