A long time ago in a galaxy far far away... No wait this is Harry Potter... Which I don't own by the way.

Harry walked out of the great hall with Ron and Hermione following behind him. As soon as he was sure that nobody could see them he pulled off the cloak and pulled his best friends of seven years into an empty classroom.

"Merlin, Harry!" Ron said with a grin. "I always thought it would be a laugh to be famous but now I can see why you hate it so much. Good idea to use the cloak to get some peace by the way."

"That's not why I wanted to come out here." Harry sighed. "I… I need to talk."

"About what mate?"

When Harry didn't answer Hermione placed her hand on Harry's shoulder and asked in a worried tone "Harry? What's wrong?"

"I'm leaving." Harry said.

"WHAT!" Ron and Hermione shouted in unison.

Harry sighed and tried to explain.

"This scar represents me more than most people believe." Harry said pointing to the lightning shaped mark on his forehead. "Lightning is only capable of destroying, it cannot create and it cannot heal. I am the same. I have been training to fight Voldemort ever since my first year and while that may have made me into a good fighter it has not prepared me to live in a society or help people recover from the war."

By this point Harry's friends were horrified but they couldn't think of anything to say.

"My purpose has been fulfilled, Voldemort is dead and I would love nothing more than to get a job as a Quidditch player or something. But I would not be able to live like that and the magical community would not be able to rebuild with me around. So I have to leave."

"But you can't leave!" Hermione exclaimed "Where would you go? What would you do?"

Harry shrugged "Who knows? Perhaps I will end up working in a café, perhaps I will go into the army or perhaps I will just drink my life away in some seedy pub. I don't really care as long as it's away from here."

"Come and get something to eat Harry." Ron said. "Once you have got some rest you will see how stupid you are being."

"You don't understand Ron. This is not a discussion it's a goodbye."

"If that's true then why isn't Ginny here?" Ron demanded. "You would never leave without saying goodbye to her!"

Harry looked down and quietly said. "She's not here because I know that if I see her then I will be too weak to leave."

"No Harry." Hermione said "If you see her you will find the strength to stay."

"Believe what you want Hermione I'm still leaving."

Realising that Harry was serious Hermione collapsed into a chair sobbing while Ron ran from the room shouting for Ginny.

"I'm sorry." Harry whispered before leaving the room and walking towards the exit in order to leave Hogwarts for the last time.

This is the shortest of all my fics so far. I liked the concept of it but I don't really like how it turned out.

Dedicated to Shangirl who I have been trying to convince to continue with "Battle talk".
