Kadota tried to avoid eye contact with the patrons at the gay bar. He was, to his slight discomfort, surprisingly popular with the same sex. He'd quickly lost count at the number if suggestive stares which had been passed his way, and was now currently trying very hard to stay as similar to the furniture as possible. Well... Seeing as there wasn't really much furniture in a night club, his main camouflage was mainly blending into the grey walls whilst keeping a watchful eye on Erika. The reason for his current, less than pleasurable situation. Apparently Erika needed some 'on the ground, up close and personally experience' as research for her latest yaoi manga. This entailed visiting a gay bar so she could 'feel the ambiance' for authenticity for the adrenalin and emotions which would be surging through her main character... Or some shit like that, truthfully Kadota zoned out after the first 5 minutes, all that mattered was the fact that Erika would be entering a potentially dangerous area and would need some minding in case things got messy. Ikeburo wasn't the most savoury of places and the seedy part of town housing love hotels and night clubs were even less so.

What he hadn't expected was seeing a familiar shade of dark yellow hair in the midst of the crowd. At first he dismissed the idea, the person in question had left Ikeburo three years ago. He left behind his murky past... Or at least that's the hope Kadota was unknowingly holding onto before making eye contact with Kida Masaomi. The teenager's initial reaction was sheer horror, his eyes widened and guilt etched onto his face, worry lines darkening to shame. Kadota could easily tell Kida was trying to hide from his acquaintances in Ikeburo. Or at least in this particular part of town.

Their awkward moment was abruptly broken when a man grabbed Kida's arm. The teen roughly pulled away both parties heatedly arguing, their dialogue lost in the midst of loud music being blasted out of speakers surrounding the club. Kadota found himself unconsciously craning his neck trying not to lose sight of the kid amongst the flashing lights and dancing party goers. He didn't need to hear their words to know it wasn't a simple misunderstanding between the two, their body language was enough of a warning for Kadota to feel uneasy about Kida's predicament. The teen broke free, quickly weaving his way through the dance floor, his pursuer following less efficiently. Shoving rather than slipping past the crowd due to his larger build. Kadota stepped away from the wall he had leaned up against, feeling tense at the expression Kida's pursuer wore. The man wasn't simply drunk or clingy, he was angry and Kida was plainly the main reason for his annoyance.

Kadota skirted around the edges of the club until he reached the bar, where Saburo Togusa was currently drinking. He tapped the van driver's shoulder to grab his attention before leaning down to talk.

"Something's come up, keep an eye out for Erika will ya?" He asked, loudly enough so Togusa could hear him over the loud beats resonating throughout the club. Togusa nodded to show his understanding, swivelling around his chair so he could face the dance floor.

"Sure thing, Walkers here as well so we should be fine. I'll see you tomorrow then." Shouted Togusa, waving his friend away. No additional questions asked, they were close enough and had long ago reaches a mutual respect for each others personal space.

Kadota swiftly left the club, swerving through the crowd in haste. He didn't want to be too far behind the kid in case something nasty came out of their argument. The night's cool air in combination with muted music was a nice relief from the sweaty noisy inside of the club, a relief shortly lived after a small sense of panic washed over Kadota. There was no sign of the kid in the laneway leading to the bar. Kadota half jogged towards the mostly empty street in the hope of catching sight of them. He reached the edge of the laneway, trying to gauge which direction they headed in. It was plain Kida wanted to keep this part of his life secret from his friends so it was unlikely for the teen to head back towards the safer part of the city. Making a quick decision, Kadota turned left away from the bustling side of Ikeburo and more towards the shadier side of the city, silently cursing Kida's most likely decision. On one hand, he was less likely to be found in a sticky situation... On the other hand he was equally less likely to receive help if the situation became too dire. Kadota had reached a light jog, not wanting to miss any sign of the pair, but a sense of urgency caused him to pick up the pace after worried thoughts rushed through his mind.

"Fuck! Get off me! Ummph"cried out a voice. Kadota's head snapped towards the direction he heard the young boy's voice scream out from. He ran towards the alleyway, pulling off his hat so he wouldn't have to worry about it slipping as he moved.

"Fucking cock tease! Thought you could just walk away after flirtin' like that? What, you take me as a joke? You were fucking asking for it." Spat the man, grinding up against Kida as he pinned him against the brick wall of the alleyway. The man pushed in for another rough kiss, before crying out in pain.

"You fucking whore, you fucking bit me! Can't fucking believe it." The man bashed Kida'a head against the bricks, before sliding his hand down to strangle the teen's throat. Spitting out blood onto the alleyway's floor. He whispered something lowly to Kida before sliding his hands up Kida's shirt and down his trousers, biting at his neck as he continued to assault the dazed boy.

Kadota, sprinted the last few feet, awash with new panic after seeing Kida's increasingly feeble pushes against the man. Kadota roughly pulled the other man off the teenager by his shoulders.

"The fuck you think you're doing mate! Get lost!" He complained, swinging a punch Kadota easily swerved.

"Don't you think it's just a little bit shameful to force yourself on an underage kid?" Spat Kadota kneeing him in the gut before giving the man a hefty punch. The man fell to the floor moaning and curling up into a fetal position as he cradled his head and stomach.

Kadota wasted no time in turning to the teenager who had slumped to the floor and was leaning lifelessly against the filthy brick wall. Kadota kneeled down, carefully lifting Kida's chin to better see his face without his long fringe so he could assess the damage done. His main concern was the trickle of blood running down Kida's face, most likely from then recent head wound he acquired from being bashed against a brick wall. Now that he was up close, Kadota could also see a nasty bruise blossoming over the kid's eye along with a cracked lip. There wasn't much detail to be seen in the dim light but it was enough for Kadota to decide he needed medical attention.

"Kadota?" Murmured Kida, his eyes slightly unfocused.

"Jesus Kida, what have you gotten yourself into?" Breathed the older man as he shook his head and gently go of Kida'a chin. "You need a doctor, I'm worried about your head wound. I'm not a medical professional but you could be suffering from concussion." He continued, suddenly feeling drained from the entire ordeal.

"No, no please. I don't need a doctor I'm fine honestly!" Cried Kida a little hysterically as he scrambled up the wall to stand again. Kadota rose as well just in time to catch the boy as he lost balance.

"You can't even stand." Stated Kadota. "Look, I won't take you to a hospital, I know a friend whose a respectable private doctor no one will kn-"

"No!" Cried Kida cutting him of and, clinging onto Kadota's sleeves. "Please, don't tell Shinra... He'll know, he'll know. Please don't call. Anyone, I don't want him to know." Tears were leaking from Kida's eyes, whether from stress or pain Kadota couldn't tell. It was distressing to see him so unhinged.

"Who will know? Mikado won't know, don't worry I'll make sure of it." Soothed Kadota, holding onto Kida's arms to support the teen, he was still quite unsteady and his shivering wasn't helping. Kida shook his head, wincing at the pain he caused himself by moving.

"No, no, no not Mikado. I can hide it from Mikado. I don't want him to know." Whimpered Kida leaning forwards slightly into Kadota's arms.

"You don't want who to know?" Asked Kadota instinctively leaning in, dumbfounded. Who could this other person be? What else would make him quiver in fear if not Mikado's and Anri's reputation of him? Or even the yellow scarves?

Kida breathed shakily, whispering into Kadota's ear. "Izaya Orihira."

Thanks so much for reading! This is my first Durarara! Fanfic :) I hope no one finds this pairing too strange, I mean there's stranger stuff out there in the realm of fanfic yeah? Hopefully other people will come to agree with me... I also love the Izaya X Masaomi pairing but I feel like I can't write anything without somehow plagiarising someone's story.

Also, please excuse any dodgy wording, this was mostly written on a phone...
