Butterfly (Reborn! - Byakuran and OC, PG)

He's silent, stealthy and sensorily invisible. Not the birds perched on top the branches know of his approach, nor the beetles resting on greenery. The leaves even crunch quietly under his small feet. He licks his lips, wetting them with childish excitement. His fingers clench in his filthy jean-shorts. He grins at the proximity he finds himself in. He's so close to his unexpected target and the pure excitement at this triumphant goes straight to his head.

He leaps from the small bush, pouncing on the beautifully painted butterfly; missing in the process. "Ah, man." The boy is obviously young – with the roundness of his face evidence of his youth. How old he is is not relative nor is the identity of the boy. He has no real bearing on the production of this insert. Let us believe him to be just a beginning act to the main character. And if you feel bad for my insensitivity towards him, than think of him as Byakuran-kun's first acquaintance at his fathers third home.

We move on and the young boy sighs, dejected from failing. But like all children his interest is piqued by a nearby caterpillar making its way up a flower stalk.

"What are you doing?" The voice startles the young lad and he whips his head around. "Ah! Bya-kun, did you finish your piano lessons?" Byakuran is the new young actor to this stage, as well our stories sole focus. He is a little older than the other boy, and from his disinterested look at the surrounding creatures, sophisticated.

He tousles his white hair and bends down to the boys height, saying lazily, "My father tells me boys who miss their targets are losers. Incapable of intelligent thought or social skills. Even worse, they grow up to be filthy commoners." He smiles and tweaks the little boys nose charmingly. "So you have something awful to look forward too."

It's a harsh sentiment and the first young lad feels it in tenfold. What would you expect from a impressionable child hearing his future being told by a highly distinguished royal child? His eyes water, choking sobs, and snot is already leaking out from his nostrils. "Oh, there there." Byakuran calmly coddles, "You can't help it now. But if you learned proper techniques and etiquette, you won't have to waste away in mosquito-ridden lands."

The change in attitude did nothing to help the young lad. He became unhinged "AH!" He ran into the distance, wailing and calling for his mother. Byakuran sighs, picking himself up off the ground. "Such a hopeless case."

He is about to turn home when he spots the butterfly the boy had failed to catch. He smirks, easily moving in and closing his hands around the insect in a matter of a few seconds. "Ha! On the flip side of those who's destiny is that to become a loser, there is the promise of grandeur of the winners." He peeks into his interlocked fingers and says hello to the butterfly. "I am a winner. And thus will achieve the prestigious title of King."

He crushes the butterfly, tossing its lifeless body to the ground before making his way back home.
