smile of a genius

prompt: Kawamura doesn't think that Fuji's smile is all that special.

Fuji's smile was nothing special.

It was there, day in and day out, from morning to night.

Whether Fuji was scheming, angry, or simply happy, his smile stayed the same.

The times he let his smile slip were rare; if he was beyond furious, his face was an emotionless mask. If he was distressed, his perpetual smile was replaced with something else—tears.

Kawamura had yet to see Fuji actually cry, but the pain in his partner's eyes made his heart ache just the same.

The very first time he had been fixed with that gaze, he knew. Fuji's tears were far more precious than Fuji's smile, and Kawamura never wanted to see them fall for anyone else.
