R a g Doll

By Chuchu Skyrider

../One-shot/

The gray clouds formed and deformed into a variety of shapes: a fist, a swallow, and an angry eye. Rain dropped from the sky and pelted on the ground. It was seen as nonchalant needles abandoned from heaven. The sun was nowhere to be seen and the air felt cool. The whole place is ominous, as if the whole world wanted to drown in this misery. In their misery.

Riku clutched Namine's limp form tightly, trying hard to keep her warm. Her breath was exhausted, and rasping. Her skin was pale, extremely pale, and her lids were closed. If the sun were shining, she would've looked like an angel. But, in this situation, she looked like a rag doll to Riku.

Limp, like a rag doll.

She hung lifelessly in Riku's muscular arms. Compared to them, her body was easily breakable. Effortlessly destroyed.

His voice was caught in his throat. It was impossible to speak. The sky stretched endlessly on and on. Riku wanted to cry out to the heavens, to the beyond. He tried so hard to keep her alive, to keep her safe. Now it ended like this.

His eyes dropped onto her face. Her angelic features were tiredly wasted. Her long eyelashes cast downwards and her lips a light shade. She left him breathless…every moment. For eternity.

The sky was darker.

He was hopeless.

And yet hopeful.

He wanted her to become lively again, energetic.

He pressed his lips against hers. The flavor was sweet and heartbreaking. His kiss was powerful. And her energy was wane.

Like a rag doll.

And her pretty face is beauteous and hollow. Her eyes fluttered open slightly. She looked wearily up to his. His lips still on hers, she smiled. It was a peaceful smile. A departing one.

Slowly, life seeped out of her eyes. Vanishing, vanishing; until they were vacant of soul. She finally and completely turned into a mannequin.

A rag doll that he embraced for infinity.

His eyes were dreadful as he watched her leave. He held her there for a long time, grasping for the last ounce of hope, of love. In the pouring rain…

That wasn't so bad, eh?

Tell me what you think.
