Punching Bag
A/N: DRABBLE. Nothing of substance. I just was bored…and pumped this out. Harvey/Mike with a hint of Mike/Louis if you squint. I do intend to continuing this...sometime in the future. When, I don't know.
Mike's bones ached as he hobbled around the office, finishing the last of Louis's briefs. Carrying the heavy stack, and sweating from the weight of the effort, he limped slowly to Louis's office, and put them on his desk.
"Goodnight Louis." he said quietly, before turning on his heel.
"Wait." Louis ordered, holding up his hand. It was a simple task, but Mike still filled with panic. "What happened to your face?"
"W-what do you mean?" Mike stuttered, shaky on his feet. The last thing he needs is Louis finding out his secret - not that he never went to Harvard, not that he isn't actually a lawyer - that he was in trouble. And couldn't go to Harvey for help.
"Why do you have a black eye and huge bruise on your cheek?" Shit. His make-up must have smudged. Louis stepped closer, reaching out to him. Mike stopped dead, his body starting to shake. He saw the hand and flinched back from its grasp - out of harm's way. The action sending stabbing pains through his body; He groaned in pain, losing his footing in the process. "Mike!?"
Louis helped Mike to his feet and guided him to the couch. "I-I have to go home." Mike said weakly, "Harvey will be mad at me if I'm late." Clutching his side, Mike rolled over, hoping to ease the pain - the action doing nothing to help.
"Mike..." Louis said sympathetically, looking at the young associate on his couch, "Did Harvey do this to you?"
"Do what?" Mike said, faking a laugh. He instantly regrets it. It was far less painful just to stay quiet. He knew exactly what Louis was talking about - the bruises that Harvey had left on his face after he'd messed up on the Wright & Reid merger. He had it coming though, he deserved it. He had overlooked one stupid detail, and caused Harvey to lose the case. Harvey had gotten drunk and used him as a human punching bag. He had hoped to cover it up with some make-up, which had worked…, until now.
"Did Harvey hit you?"
"No!" A stabbing pain ran through him, and he bit on his lip, trying not to cry. "Harvey loves me. He w-wouldn't do that."
Louis made a point to press into Mike's cheek, eliciting a cry from him. "Did Harvey hit you?"
"I don't wanna talk about Harvey, Louis." Louis nodded, deciding not to push.
"Look Mike, I know you and Harvey are, um...together." Louis tilted his head to the side, genuinely compassionate, "but if you ever need to get away, just call me."
Mike nodded on his way to the door, "Thanks."
