Disclaimer: I don't own Ricky or Amy. I do however own Ashlynn. I also don't own the song "There Goes my Life" by Kenny Chesney.
All he could think about was I'm too young for this.
Got my whole life ahead.
Hell I'm just a kid myself.
How'm I gonna raise one.
She stared at him with tears in her eyes, confirming what he had already suspected. It had been a week since he'd spoken to his shrink, explaining to him his situation. All his life he'd been a screw up. The one thing he had control over and he had gone and screwed that up to. Now he was left to pick up the remnants of his mistake.
All he could see were his dreams goin' up in smoke.
So much for ditchin' this town and hangin' out on the coast.
Oh well, those plans are long gone.
And he said,
There goes my life.
There goes my future, my everything.
Might as well kiss it all good-bye.
There goes my life...
He had never planned on staying here, starting a family and raising a kid at the age of sixteen. He wanted to get out of this town, leave his past behind and start fresh. He was supposed to see the world and find a job, travel, be free of the reigns he so often felt pulling at him here. How could he do all that if he had a kid? How could he do anything with a kid?
A couple years of up all night and a few thousand diapers later.
That mistake he thought he made covers up the refrigerator.
Oh yeah...he loves that little girl.
Momma's waiting to tuck her in,
As she fumbles up those stairs.
She smiles back at him dragging that teddy bear.
Sleep tight, blue eyes and bouncin' curls.
"Ashlynn, it's time for bed."
Ricky smiled from the stairs as Amy attempted to put their precocious daughter to bed. She had just recently turned two, and although she had turned he and Amy's life upside down, just one look into her beautiful eyes and suddenly it was all worth it. He loved Ashlynn Marie with all his heart and soul, and he wouldn't give her up for anything.
She turned around and smiled at Ricky, running back down the stairs towards him, jumping into his arms. Ricky smiled, placing a kiss to her nose, loving the smile he received in return
"I love you daddy," she whispered, wriggling from her fathers grasp, running back towards Amy.
"I love you too princess.
"He smiles...
There goes my life.T
here goes my future,
my everything.I love you, daddy good-night.
There goes my life.
She had that Honda loaded down.
With Abercrombie clothes and 15 pairs of shoes and his American Express.
He checked the oil and slammed the hood, said your good to go.
She hugged them both and headed off to the West Coast.
Ricky sighed as Amy got teary eyed, hugging Ashlynn close to her as she whispered something in their daughter's ear. Ashlynn hugged her back, placing a kiss on her mother's cheek.
"Mom, don't cry. I'll be back for thanksgiving, and I promise to call every night," proclaimed their daughter, earning a smile from Amy.
"Love you too baby girl," whispered Amy, giving her one last kiss before watching as Ashlynn went to Ricky, who had just finished doing a once (or third) over her car.
"I'm going to miss you daddy. I love you," whispered Ashlynn and Ricky nodded, trying to hold back the tears. He wasn't one to cry over much, but when it came to Ashlynn, he would cry over the smallest things for her.
"Love you too baby. Always and forever."
Ricky sighed as he watched Ashlynn get in the car, waving once more before she started the engine and headed off, starting on the adventure Ricky had always dreamed of. However in the past eighteen years, he realized Ashlynn was a new dream, a better dream…a dream he was proud of.
And he cried,
There goes my life.
There goes my future, my everything.
I love you.Baby good-bye.
There goes my life.
There goes my life.
Baby good-bye.
