Her city is dying.
Beatrix spins on the steel-edged heel of a boot, momentum aiding the Save the Queen in its fate. Another monster crushes its own limbs beneath its bulk -- another corpse on the cobblestone. Inhaling anxiety,

she looks to her left: (captain of the knights of pluto adelbert) Steiner. The silence begs for a sentence, an acknowledgement of camaraderie, but her disability
no. it makes me stronger.
deadens the moment. More are on their way; she needs to...keep an eye out. Clenching her teeth, the General focuses her determined, disgusted sight upon the approaching corpses-to-be.
they march to their doom.

Steiner's never been so nervous.
In the pale, ethereal light of something at the castle, Beatrix glows like the stone of statues for soldiers slain. Sword sworn and drawn, stance readied for battle, jaw set; each curl of hair swirled as if chiseled from granite. Chest tight with dread, he risks speaking.
"Lady Beatrix, I--"
For an instant, their gazes meet. Beatrix halts completely, muscles tense and aching to fight. Her mouth opens slightly, shaky breath escaping slowly -- in terror? certainly not. -- as the proverbial glint in her eye reflects Alexand(e)r(ia).
A second later, her blade is striking silverquick, opposition wailing in mixed pain and fury. Blood stains her clothing, wet and sick and their bodies are starting to reek. Lifting the Excalibur II, Steiner rushes forward to continue the story.
