Morgan had to stifle a laugh. The sight of Reid, his cardigan askew, his pants wrinkled, his eyes trying desperately to open as he reached for the coffeepot with little success. By the time he saw that Reid was about to dump half a pound of salt into his coffee cup and was trying to pour creamer onto his paperwork, he rushed over to the sideboard.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa there," he said, rescuing Reid's stack of files from an early morning milk bath. "Kid, are you all right?"
"Yeah, Morgan. I'm fine. I was just up too late last night."
"Hot date?" Morgan's eyes narrowed playfully and a grin spread over his beautiful face.
"On a Sunday night?"
"Bad dream?" Morgan asked, his face now growing serious.
"No, no, nothing like that. I was up too late watching the Olympics…"
Now Morgan didn't even bother to hide his mirth. "You? Watched the Olympics?"
"Yes."
"For what…five minutes before some documentary came on?"
"No. I watched them most of the night. I was really looking forward to…"
"What? The swimming? God, that men's relay was something else, wasn't it?"
"It was, but that's not…"
"Ohhh," Morgan said playfully. "It was the gymnastics, wasn't it? Pretty girls in pretty suits…"
"No, it wasn't that either. Though, yes, the suits were quite nice. I always wonder how they don't get dizzy with all that…"
"Then what on earth kept you up so late?"
"Table tennis. 2:30 in the morning on MSNBC, but really well worth it!" Reid said, tired but ecstatic, his eyes wide. "Qualifying rounds were last night…"
Morgan looked at his colleague like he'd walked off the planet Neptune. "Table tennis?"
"Yeah, it's amazingly huge over in the Asian countries. The players there are like rock stars…"
Morgan shook his head in disbelief. The kid finally takes an interest in sports, and he picks something I can do in my basement…
A/N: I'm American, so for me the highlight last night was the men's 4 x 100 relay--just amazing! In all honesty, though, I'm not sure when the table tennis is on...
