It Happened In Sun Valley
A Peanuts Fanfiction
By LivingOnLaughs
"Sir, are you sure about this?"
"Trust me, Marcie…they'll love us"
"If you say so, Sir"
"And stop calling me Sir!"
Charlie Brown sighed. "Girls, your turn" he explained
"Got it, Chuck!"
"You got it, Charles"
Lucy turned to Schroeder. "What're those blockheads doing for the talent show?" she asked him.
"Who knows, Lucy?" he answered wittily and knowingly as he winked to her.
The principal walked onto the stage before lecturing the kids.
"Sorry Lucy, I'm needed for this number" Schroeder realized as he ran into one of the stage wings. There sat his piano.
"And now here're Patricia and Marceline performing It Happened in Sun Valley" he explained, walking off stage.
"That girl can't sing" Lucy complained to herself.
"Breath, girl…" Patty instructed her best friend before giving Schroeder the thumbs up to begin the music.
[Patty]
Howdy folks, let's go for a ride
Get your favorite one to sit by your side
Cuddle up in a sleigh
Giddyap Nellie Grey
And away we go.
A few kids booed the tomboy while others clapped. "That's…interesting" Franklin realized.
"Wait! It's not done yet!" the tomboy told the audience
"Where's the rest of the song?" Crybaby shouted.
"Marcie, that's your cue," Patty whispered.
"Sorry, Sir" the timid nerd muttered.
Schroeder continued the music in disbelief. "Stage frightened," he concluded to himself.
[Marcie]
While you listen to the sleigh bells ring
You're yodeling to your baby
You'll feel nice and warm
No matter how cold it may be
[Patty]
Take a look at little Jack and Jill
They ski down a hill that's a snowplow turn
And look there's a spill
There's a spill on the hill
When you're down it's a thrill to go up again.
[Patty and Marcie]
Ev'rybody ought to learn to ski for that is how we first met
[Patty]
We were that Jack and Jill that came down a hill,
[Marcie]
When I looked at you, my heart took a spill
[Patty]
Took a spill on a hill
[Marcie]
It's a thrill that I can't forget
[Patty and Marcie]
It Happened In Sun Valley not so very long ago
[Marcie]
There were sunbeams in the snow
[Patty]
and a twinkle in your eye
(I think)
[Patty and Marcie]
I remember oh so clearly
that you nearly passed me by
That It Happened In Sun Valley
when you slipped and fell and so did I
I remember oh so clearly
That you nearly passed me by
That It Happened In Sun Valley
when you slipped and fell and so did I
[Patty]
Now ev'ry year we go back
and then we recall that fall and that moment
[Marcie]
When we were there on a hill
[Patty and Marcie]
So we both take a spill and we're Jack and Jill again.
Lucy sighed in disbelief. "Worst thing I've ever heard! The only good thing about that number was Schroeder!" she shouted.
"Great job!" Franklin cheered.
"They were too quiet!" Crybaby whined.
"Shut up, Boobie!" Molley Volley yelled.
"That was interesting" Linus praised.
"I agree, Sweet Babboo," Sally flirted as she held her lover's hand.
"Encore! Encore!" Pigpen cheered.
"Okay, I think that's enough" Patty Swanson sighed, coughing a little.
Violet groaned. "Patty's right, we need snow; not dust"
"Well let's give a round of applause to Peppermint Patty and Marcie" Charlie insisted.
"Woo hoo!" Snoopy praised.
"NO DOGS ALLOWED!" the principal called out to the beagle.
"Bleah!" Snoopy argued, walking out a fire exit.
Patty swung Marcie around. "We did it, kid! We did it!" she kept saying.
"I know, Sir" Marcie responded dizzily.
"Good grief" said Charlie Brown worriedly. "What a show…I can't wait for the next act"
The End
