A/N: This is my first Trifecta drabble so they're not the only ones having a first! ^^ Though it's not it's not what you would call a romantic first...but a fluffy first? I'm a sucker for sick/hurt uke scenarios. I guess you can say this is first time Kirishima suffered fear after Yokozawa had a serious accident? Or new...however way you see fit. Ah and you don't really need to know her story (I think I did a good job in explaining who she was in this story), but if you want to know more on my OC Meiri Uehara, please read World's Greatest 'Mary-sue'! It's on as well as here on Tumblr! Search #oc on my blog. Thank you guys so much for reading!

Yokozawa woke to find he wasn't at home. The random beeps and boops going off all over the place was a sure clue. There was also soft or hushed talking of voices he didn't recognize, but his attention was more directed at how he was feeling at the present moment. His body felt very heavy, as well as in agony all over. He felt bruised and battered in several places, but most of the pain was coming from his right leg and shoulder.

Struggling to open his eyes, he finally figured out what this odd place he'd woken up in really was. A hospital. More specifically the ICU. His mouth was covered in a breathing mask delivering oxygen, leg in cast hung by a contraption to keep it up above heart level, and he couldn't see his shoulders, but he could guess they were tied back in a back brace. And the stiff thing around he could feel around his neck must've been a neck brace.

Wh...what the hell happened? This question of course wasn't odd in the slightest. He honestly couldn't remember the reason he was there in the first place.

"Ah! You're awake!" a voice came from the curtain. It was one of the nurses watching over him. "Hey there, can you speak? How are you feeling?" she moved the breathing mask a bit so he could respond.

"Confused," Yokozawa tried. His voice was a little cracked and didn't come out quite right. But at least it did.

"Ah you don't remember what happened?" the nurse asked, Yokozawa could only shake his head as a no. "Well, according to the ER reports, you took a nasty fall down the stairs at the subway station. It seems you'd fainted at the top of them. Your passing out was due to a bad fever,"

Ah...now he remembered. He was on his way to the office struggling his hardest to make it back after a short meeting in Marimo Books. He'd left his cold medicine in his desk and figured he'd be okay once he'd taken some. Guess he never made it back...

"Thankfully it was only a small flight of stairs, you could've really hurt yourself!" the nurse continued. "You did break your leg however, and we found that your right shoulder has been sprained. But no broken bones there,"

Yokozawa then tried to get up and look for his phone. Did anyone other than strangers know where he was and why he didn't make it back to the office? How long had he been at the hospital? The first person that came to mind when those questions arose was Kirishima. Was he worrying himself sick? What about his sister? As he tried to sit up, he immediately regretted it. His head spun and his shoulders made him cry out in pain.

"Ah! Please sir don't move!" the nurse tried to calm him down.

"But...I don't know if...does...anyone know I'm here?" his voice was just as weak as he was.

"Well...we found your business cards and let your company know of the incident. Marukawa Publishing, correct? We got through to the secretary of your employer and he said he'd pass the information along. We weren't sure of who else we could contact. I could contact someone for you if you know their number. But please just remain lying down. Your body is very beaten up. Not to mention we're still working on getting your fever down," the nurse tried to keep Yokozawa from getting up any further.

His employer. Most likely they contacted the head office so it wouldn't be the supervisors of the sales department. So they actually would be getting a hold of Isaka-san. And the secretary was Asahina-san. So at least they knew what had happened to him. But for the love of god...did Kirishima know? Did Hiyori know? They're not family, would Isaka-san even tell them?

Chances were, that Isaka didn't even know that he and Kirishima were together. But at least he knew that Meiri Uehara was his sister and SHE would tell Kirishima...right? Meiri found out about their relationship just recently so...hopefully...

Yokozawa just couldn't stay conscious anymore. Perhaps it was the weight of his fever again. But he ended up giving into it before he could make a fuss about giving the phone numbers to the nurse.

/(^x^)\

Yokozawa managed to wake again. His body felt like it was hours later from when he first woke up there in the hospital. He could feel the breathing mask was now a thin breathing tube across his face and the neck brace was gone. He just didn't want to open his eyes as remembered that he was questioning if anyone he loved knew he was there.

But before he could debate his own thoughts more, he felt something on his left hand. It was being held. Not only that, but he could feel a light breathing on it.

He opened his eyes and to his absolute surprise, there was Kirishima sleeping near his side; leaning against his bed and holding Yokozawa's hand close to his mouth. Hiyori was in the little chair that would turn into a bed, wrapped up in a cuddly blanket. So he was out of the ICU now.

Th...they're...here... Yokozawa's mind spoke. Sudden emotions wanted to choke him up, but he just didn't have the energy to. Instead, all his limbs were aching from being inactive. But his broken leg seem to hit harder than all of them. Oh yeah, his shoulder was sprained too, wasn't it? Pain wracked his body and he moaned in discomfort as he became more conscious.

This woke Kirishima of course. His eyes fluttered open hearing the pain coming from his lover. "Ah you're awake, how are you feeling?" he asked softly. He sounded and looked exhausted. But there was a hint of desperate worry in his tone.

"I wish I hadn't have woken up. I'm so sore and I'm not even talking about my leg..." Yokozawa sucked his teeth as he attempted to shift. It didn't work. Pain surged throughout his body and it showed no mercy. "Ah...urrrgghh!'

"Ah! The nurse left your nightly dose for me to give to you, we were sure your pain would wake you up eventually," with that, Kirishima prepared a small cup of water and handed him his dose. It seemed to be very late at night. About two in the morning.

That wasn't what he was concerned with though. He just saw Kirishima show genuine concern. No snarky comments or usual steamy suggestions that aggravated Yokozawa when they were in front of Hiyo. He almost seemed frantic...and sad? Well...Yokozawa is a patient in a hospital and he must look pitiful all banged up and bandaged like that, but just seeing Kirishima in so much worry...

Then Hiyori was there in his hospital room as well. Her father just couldn't leave her at home by herself, of course. That and her oniisan was in the hospital so she'd worry about him too. Her small form looked rather cozy. All bundled up in blankets that obviously came from home and on a chair that turns into a bed for any family members that could stay the night with patients.

Family members...

Isaka must've let Meiri know, since she was next of kin and actually works in Marukawa, and she told Kirishima. He only had her to thank. Meiri has a husband so it was natural she wouldn't be here with him along with the little family...he had on his own. Realizing this, his damn heart wanted to choke him again, but managed to hold it back.

"Meiri-chan let us know," he began. "Well not at first. She was so shaken up when she heard from Isaka-san that you were in the hospital. I caught her practically running out of the company in a panic. That's when she told me. We came here together, but you never woke up. She figured she could leave me in charge so," he then smiled. "She gave me strict orders to take care of you,"

Meiri Uehara was disturbed from her work in the Emerald department. It was about two weeks into the cycle so they were just now started to feel the HUGE pressure as always. The redhead picked up the phone so as not to make the others worry about the fate of their magazine.

It was Isaka-san….

"W...well he's okay right?" an ill at ease look washed over Meiri's features that of course drew concern over the rest of the department.

"I don't know the details they wouldn't tell us, they just wanted to let the next of kin know...that's you…" Isaka said trying to defend himself from the barrage of questions. Yes this was his employee severely injured in an accident. But what could he do if privacy laws prevented him from knowing specific details? "Please just go to that hospital, they said they'll tell you everything once you're there. Don't forget to keep us updated,"

With that, Meiri stood up abruptly and apologized to Takano that she needed to leave early with Isaka's permission. And nothing surpasses his authority so Takano really couldn't question right then and there. Though it stood to mind that he was pretty worried too.

She didn't even take the elevator and ran down 3 flights of stairs, nearly knocking a couple of people down in the process. She'd barely made it outside the doors when Kirishima grabbed her.

"Hey hey, slow down, what's wrong?" He said trying to calm the obviously worried sibling of his love.

"Kirishima-nii...Taka-chan...Taka-chan...he's in the...hospital!" she said in between pants. "I'm sorry but I need to catch a cab and see if he's okay!"

"Wait! Let me go with you!" Kirishima tailed her. It was there in the cab that Meiri told him what little info Isaka had told her.

After they'd got to the hospital, the only one allowed to talk with the doctor was Meiri; being next of kin. Kirishima sat disgruntled in the lobby; he wasn't family so he couldn't even see him in the ICU. He didn't let it get to him for long; Meiri was there signing papers and would waver any and all rights to allow Kirishima to see her brother. "His name is Kirishima Zen," Meiri told the nurse and all those in authority. "Allow him and his little girl to see my brother and make decisions on his wellbeing. You have my permission as the power of attorney to Yokozawa Takafumi,"

Kirishima almost crumpled hearing those words. Words that sounded so very official and that gave him the permission he needed to be with Yokozawa in the hospital. And it wasn't long before he was given papers to sign along with Meiri's signature to grant him such access.

Yokozawa and his little sister had made themselves power of attorney to each other as soon as they were age of consent. They also decided what should happen to their mother in an event just like this one. Then of course when Meiri got married, those rights extended to include Takuya. Their father passing away shortly before Yokozawa went to uni called for action to be taken like this. A smart and wise decision for this family unit.

"Are you sure that was okay to do?" he asked shortly after they processed the paperwork.

"I'm positive he would've wanted you here with him. I'm pretty sure he wants to see you more than he wants to see me. Besides, we're family...right?"

Kirishima could feel his heart burst with such emotion, but held any and all back while still looking so cool. Though, it would always show up in his eyes. "Right!"

It wasn't long before Takuya, Meiri's husband, showed up to accompany her in the waiting room. "Hey, they haven't told you what happened yet?"

"They're going to get the doctor to talk to us now. It was a little delayed, I was being grouchy because they wouldn't allow Kirishima in to see him at first. I fixed that though,"

"Ah I see," Takuya chuckled at his wife. He himself knew how headstrong she could be.

"Ah! I haven't introduced you two yet! Kirishima-nii, this is Takuya Uehara, my sweet husband! Takuya, this is Kirishima Zen, editor in chief of Japun and he holds the other half my brother's heart!"

Kirishima stuttered a bit at Meiri's comment of him. "Ah it's nice to finally meet you! We've heard so much about you from Meiri-chan,"

"I can only imagine," Takuya laughed again. He also knew that Meiri is quite the fan girl when it comes to him. So it wouldn't be hard to imagine her gushing about him. "And Meiri's told me so much about you as well," he smiled.

Even Kirishima had to admit that Takuya looked like an absolute prince. His looks could genuinely rival that of the young bookstore clerk at Marimo Books. Though Takuya had more of an adorable factor about him that differed from the cool, collected Yukina Kou.

After a bit, a nurse beckoned the three back to the ICU. He was given the okay. And he could only guess that Takuya was allowed because he's Yokozawa's brother-in-law. It still made his heart skip a little that he essentially held the same status as these two.

"He...what?!" Meiri gaped at the doctor explaining what happened to Yokozawa. They were standing just outside the area where they had the famed grumpy bear under watch.

"That's what the ER reports say. After examining him, he had a really bad fever, so I could only guess that's why he'd fainted in the first place. The nurses say he woke up a moment ago, but his fever is still high, so he fades in and out of consciousness. I'm letting him rest and work the fever out of his system. We already gave him antibiotics via IV, so he should be fine in a few hours,"

As the doctor spoke, Meiri felt her anger bubble up at how utterly stupid her brother was. "Oooohh lemme at him, lemme at him! He's already half dead, let me finish the job! That idiot!"

A comical vision of Takuya holding back his wife from barging into Yokozawa's room to kill her target played out. "Meiri-chan, no violence in the hospital…" Takuya smiled with a sweatdrop.

"Grrr seriously though!" Meiri huffed. "Does he know what he could've done himself falling down those stairs? Why the hell did he leave his house if he was so sick! I'll bet he'll say it was because of work. Oh this idiot makes me so mad!"

Every emotion Meiri was expressing was nothing short of how Kirishima himself felt. Though he wasn't being as vocal about it. This was the first time in a long time he'd ever been so filled with worry. And all for the stupid actions taken by Yokozawa.

XxXx End Flashback xXxX

Yokozawa felt patronized by his own younger sister. Ah well. It was because of her that Kirishima was even there. Had she not known of their relationship, he would have waken up in a lot of pain in far more ways than one.

"So. Mind telling me how this happened?" Kirishima asked, the look he held now looked more like he was about to scold him.

"Nobody told you?"

"You fainted at the top of a flight of stairs. The cause was a fever of 39.4 C…"

Yokozawa's eyebrow twitched in annoyance. "If you knew, why ask?

"I'm asking because you went to work like that. When it was obvious you were in no condition to even leave your bed…"

"Did you forget that sometimes we just go to work sick because even one day off means we're backed up to no end?"

"People can die falling down stairs and here you are more concerned about work? So much so that you went with such a bad fever?" The look Kirishima now had was enough to shake even Yokozawa's soul. He was upset; genuinely looking like he was about to cry in frustration. Something that would actually take a lot for a man like him. Just so upset that he genuinely could have died falling down those stairs. All it would take was a snapped neck. And if it was possible to faint while on the stairs, it was equally possible he'd pass out right on the rails just as the train was coming.

"Y...you're right...I'm sorry. I was careless," Yokozawa replied beside himself with feeling stupid. Such a proud man as he ALWAYS hated to admit he was wrong. But this time, he couldn't deny the fact that he really should've just stayed home.

Kirishima just relaxed a bit and let out a breath he didn't realize he was holding. "It's fine. As long as you're aware of it. Just….tell me when you're feeling that bad. I always have my phone on me. If you don't think you can make it back I'll come get you," he said running fingers through Yokozawa's hair. "I mean look at you! You're severely injured! Your leg will take months to heal; and your shoulder is the least if your worries. If I was there with you I….I would've caught you," he then leaned his head against Yokozawa's. "I caught you once before. I don't ever mind doing it again…"

The last words that Kirishima spoke stung the most. This was the very person that caught him before he went into a spiraling depression after his heartbreak with Takano. The man that held his forehead against his own really was his safety net in so many ways.

Yokozawa realized then and there, he'll always fall really hard without Kirishima there to catch him. A valuable lesson he'll never forget from this day forward.

/(^x^)\

A week had passed since Yokozawa had come home from the hospital. Well...it wasn't his home but home nonetheless. How it was decided that he would be staying at Kirishima's apartment rather than his own was beyond him. Something about power of attorney?

The Kirishima household was also becoming littered with 'get well' gifts. Customary gift of flowers and fruit from Isaka-san, a cute drawing of the three bears made by Meiri-chan herself with the 'Mama Bear' looking grumpy and wearing a very familiar polka dot apron (it seemed Kirishima rushed to hang it up as soon as it was received), Hatori sent him the pillow he was resting his leg on, Henmi sent him some treats from the Kansai region, and to his surprise, received a bundled gift from Takano and Onodera. Takano's gift of a couple out-of-print books seemed fine, but the gift of a three-salmon holding bear wood carving from Onodera just seemed… It was then Yokozawa wondered if anyone taught the pampered prince how to shop for a gift.

Kirishima was preparing Yokozawa's next dose of pain medication and antibiotics with a nice tall glass of sweet iced tea and lemon. And Hiyori was having fun making cute pictures all over her oniisan's cast. Thankfully his pant legs would be enough to cover that up if need be.

"Wow Hiyo, you're really making his cast a work of art!" Kirishima commented as he sat down with them; making sure Yokozawa took his medicine as well.

Hiyo giggled, "It will help Oniichan feel better!" she said as she continued scribbling with big markers.

Yokozawa smiled with her. "It sure will. I'll even save it when it comes time to cut it off,"

"You will?" Hiyo asked eyes wide.

"Of course I will! I can't throw something so beautiful away now can I?" it really was the first time Yokozawa had ever had someone draw on his cast. Well it was the first time he'd ever broken a bone. But he drew on Meiri's cast when she twisted her ankle near 180° playing little league football. So he knew how fun it must be for Hiyori to do that for him. Though he admits Hiyo is a far better artist than he ever was.

"Well if that's the case, we'll hang it up where he can see it everyday and be reminded how he should never go to work sick again," Kirishima declared. Yokozawa gave him the look he always does when he teases him.

"Yeah Oniichan! You should never go to work sick! Stay in bed, drink lots of fluids, eat plenty of okayu, and you can even watch cartoons when you're bored!"

"Yes...I'll never go to work sick again," he smiled at Hiyori. The first time he's broken a bone wasn't so bad after all. Though he'll never do it again and it was a promise he made to his new family that smiled at him.
