Here's Day 4! I don't know how I've kept up this long!
Today's Prompt: "Where's all of your holiday spirit, Mr. Scrooge?"
Disclaimer: I don't own The Greatest Showman.
Phillip grabs his jacket as he begins getting ready to go home to his apartment. He doesn't know how he's going to spend the evening, never mind the next day. It's not like he can go to his parents' house like he has every other Christmas. Nonetheless, he knows he needs to leave the others to whatever celebrations they have planned. They'd have a good time.
As he's walking towards the entrance, he feels someone grab his arm and stop him. He looks back and sees that it's Anne.
"Where do you think you're going?" She asks curiously. He looks at her confused.
"Home? I figured you'd all be starting your own celebrations soon," He responds. Anne looks at him for another few seconds before an amused smile spreads across her face.
"Where's all of your holiday spirit, Mr. Scrooge?"
Phillip is even more confused. First of all, when did Anne find out about his love for Charles Dicken's work? Was it that obvious? Had he told her in a drunken haze once and didn't remember? Granted, his habit of drinking had lessened significantly since he joined the circus, but every once in a while, he'd allow himself to indulge.
Second, why is he being compared to Scrooge? He thinks he's doing the right thing by letting his family have their celebrations.
His thoughts stop at that word. Family. He looks past Anne to see all of the circus (minus P.T. since he's with his wife and daughters) in the ring, cuddled up together to keep warm, looking at him like they're expecting him to join them.
He has always considered them family, but he needs to be reminded sometimes that they consider him family too. And they know that he has no one else outside of the circus. Just like how they don't have anyone else outside the circus.
Phillip smiles. He is home. He is with his family.
"It's all here, Anne," He finally responds as he pulls her into a kiss.
There you go! Day 4! Again, I have no idea how I'm doing this. I literally threw this together 20 minutes before I went to bed. I hope it's still good though. Goodnight!
