Author's Note: This is my first Riviera fanfic. It's a very short little vignette about an unexpected pairing I found most intriguing. I hope you enjoy reading this. Please read and review.
Love at First Light
I don't know when I first noticed her. How her eyes shone when she fought, her rapier cutting through demons with expert precision. She was so graceful, so beautiful. It kinda shocked me at first, when I let that thought slip my mind. I didn't think it was right. But it felt right, so I never really thought anything of it.
I remember one night when I couldn't sleep. I would walk around the place, thinking, maybe looking out the window and watching the moon. But that night, I realized that there was something more important to watch instead. I looked at her sleeping form, peaceful, serene. Beautiful, even. Never before had I felt what I did right then.
The next few nights went on just like that. I'd stay awake and watch her as she slept. It was a wonderful feeling, watching her. It was so peaceful and so comforting after a particularly rough day. But one night, I decided to do something a bit more daring.
I slipped into bed with her, my arms curling around her thin frame. I felt her arms curl around mine as well, and the warmth we shared was intoxicating. Burying my head in her shoulder, I slept with a smile on my face that night. I've never slept so well. It was wonderful, this secret passion of mine. And in the morning, it would be a secret no more.
I woke when the sun's first few rays warmed my cheek. I blinked myself awake, and found her still sleeping soundly beside me. Summoning all my courage, I leaned in and kissed her. It was no more than a delicate peck on the lips, but it felt wonderful just the same. And in the faintest whisper, I told her what I had meant to tell her for so long.
"...I love you, Fia."
And in a heartfelt whisper, I received my answer.
"I love you too, Lina."
