I couldn't help but stare at her as she sat chatting happily with Ron and Harry. I can admit I'm somewhat jealous of them. They can hug her, talk to her, and just be with her freely without any suspicion. But me? She'd think I was up to something if I did anything of the sort. Doesn't mean I can't talk to Harry and Ron though.
'Hey guys!' I said as I neared them at the table. George started to follow me but Angelina pulled him back down to sit with her. At least he's got his girl.
'Hey Fred!' Ron said, mouth filled with food.
'Oh Fred! I meant to ask you! How's your little problem going?' Harry asked glancing at Hermione out of the corner of his eye.
Her head shot up from the Potions book in her lap. 'What problem?' She asked.
Harry smirked at me and said, 'Oh Fred's just been having girl issues that's all.'
I scowled and looked at Hermione. Her usually bushy hair was tamed a bit and to be honest I think I liked it better bushy. 'Girl issues?' She asked. 'With who? I didn't know a flirt like you could have girl issues.'
'You would think right?' I muttered.
'Well? Who is it then?' she asked. Oh dear…
Harry smirked and stood up. 'Ron don't we have an essay to finish or something?'
Ron looked at him with wide eyes. 'It's due today?' He got up and followed Harry out of the Great Hall. But not before smiling at me and not so subtly jerking his head in Hermione's direction.
I expected her to get up and follow them but instead she repeated, 'Who is it?'
'It's no one. Forget anyone said anything.'
'Fred.'
'Hermione it's no one. Trust me.' She rolled her eyes and gathered her stuff to leave. Oh I don't want her to leave. 'Where are you going?'
'Well if you're not going to tell me anything I might as well go.'
'No wait! I..It's…Hermione do you want to go to Hogsmeade with me this weekend?"
Half expecting her to either run away or say no, I was surprised when she sat down again in front of me and smiled. 'Now was that so hard? I've been waiting since third year to hear those words from you.'
"You knew?' I asked.
She laughed and I couldn't help but smile at her laugh. 'Of course I knew!'
'But how?'
'Ginny.'
'Remind me to kill her later,' I muttered under my breath. 'But wait if you knew why didn't you say anything?'
'I wanted to hear it from you before I said anything.'
'Well…alright you know what? Forget this weekend. Do you want to go to Hogsmeade right now?'
'But how?' she asked. 'It's only Tuesday.'
'That's what secret passageways are for.' I grabbed her hand and led her out the great hall. Grateful that I can finally touch her without feeling bad.
