Well…I had a burst of inspiration and rewrote this story…why? Don't know…I think it's MUCH better than the previous version. I know I also just published this story, but it wasn't really…idk, in-depth if you will.

Disclaimer: I don't own Soul Eater!

The day she left was when Stein went insane.

If anyone would ask how long this crazed desire, this madness, to dissect had shrouded his mind; the answer was always the same-he was born that way.

It was a lie. One big, made up lie.

Right now, the incessant static was gnawing at him, begging him to give in to the madness he had so ungratefully been blessed, no, cursed with.

Medusa's voice urged him on, saying all he needed to do was destroy it, destroy the noise and everything would be right again. No more static, no more anger or insanity, life would be normal again. He knew it was a lie, a farce, a deception, but the desire to destroy it was stronger than anything he could ever imagine.

Medusa's voice faded to nothing, leaving only the noise to once again keep him company. But another presence was near, a familiar aura that he'd known much longer than the devilish one put off by Medusa. This one calmer, cleaner, almost pure. Then he heard her voice, much softer and sweeter than the harsh, cold, freezing tone he'd heard Medusa use.

But WHY? Why was she here? After all this time, why had she left him those many years ago? Had she found another Meister? Another man? Did she fall out of love with him? Why did she leave?

"There's no need to fix anything, or destroy it either. Just accept it, it's part of you." Marie's soft voice spoke. He heard no harshness, no anger or scorn, only gentleness, acceptance, and most important of all, love.

That's when he realized-the noise was gone.

His hands lowered and he slowly turned his head, the same girl who left him all those years ago was standing right in from of him.

"Now try very hard to picture it, the place you need to go. I know you can do it if you try." She extended her hand, inviting him to take it.

As he reached out, finally taking hold of her petite hand, her arms wrapped around him and a warmth enveloped them, a warmth he never knew existed.

And that was the day the madness stopped.

I hope it was just as easy, if not easier to follow as you read.
