So, this is one of those randomly-pops-into-your-head-and-won't-leave-you-alone-until-you-write-it-down...yeah, one of those. This was also experimenting with Riku: I love his character so much but I can't delve into him just as easily as I do Sora.
Not my best, nor my favorite, but nevertheless, it is here.
This couldn't be everything for him: why so little?
Riku stood leaning against the bent papou tree, still seething, still saddened.
So, it was just school, then life at the docks forever? No, that can't be everything. Shouldn't life be full of excitement, much more than that of a sailor or a fisherman?
If life was meant to be simple, he wouldn't be so restless. He wouldn't be asking for more, he'd simply accept the simple life his parents, and every other adult on this boring spit of land, expected for him. He wouldn't dream of... new worlds, or adventures, or new encounters, or of everything that just couldn't be found on the Destiny Islands.
'Destiny Islands...'
Riku snorted. An ironic name, really, for a place that offered so little to ones' destiny. School, marriage, a family, and work. Nothing more or less. Riku was sick of watching the adults do the same thing, and it was that last thing he wanted: to join the horde of adult zombies, repeating the lifes of their fathers, and their fathers' fathers...
Why was he this anxious? Was he really that different from the other children? Sora constantly pointed out how much Riku stood out: neither knew many other people with silver hair as their natural hair color, the exception being Riku himself and his mother. However, Sora reminded friend that being different was what made him so "cool". Riku smirked. He really did have a friend in Sora.
What was this anxiety? This...this lust to break out of the norm, to set his own path, to write his own story, to travel his own journey...what was this? It almost scared him, how fierce this demand to content his heart was.
But he knew he couldn't ignore it, not when it was knawing away at his heart like this. He should-- no, he would do whatever it took to content his heart. Sora always followed his heart, so why couldn't he?
Sighing, Riku pushed himself upright, away from the tree's trunk. He gazed at the setting sun a moment longer, then turned around to head home, to his prison...
He would do whatever it took to content his heart, no matter the cost.
Yes, random, I know.
