Helga always thought that if people tried hard enough, they could do anything.
Because, after all, she and Godric and Rowena and Salazar had all worked hard, and look where it got them. They were founders of a prestigious school of magic, and things were going well.
See, there was something to be said for hard work and determination.
Helga always saw the world through rose-tinted glasses. No problem was too big or too small to be worked through patiently.
Her world was so content that the others were fine with letting her think that way. And so she did.
Until Salazar left.
When Salazar left, she took off the rose-tinted glasses and was blinded by what she saw. There was discord and turmoil in their lives, and she had happily turned a blind eye to Godric's impulsivity, Salazar's prejudice, and Rowena's calculation.
Salazar had left each of them a parting gift.
For Helga, it was reality.
I guess I never knew him as well as I thought I did.
