"Coming!" Reid called. "I'll be there in a sec." Actually, he thought, it'll be more like 6 seconds. He was a lot slower on crutches. But he knew that wouldn't bother the person at the door.

"Emily, come on in," he said, as he attempted to hold the door open for her in a chivalrous way. In reality, he couldn't quite reach the door and remain standing on his crutches. But she appreciated the gesture.

"How are you feeling?" she inquired.

"I've been better," he laughed. "The doctor said my knee is healing fine, and I should be off the crutches in 3 weeks."

"That's great, Reid! I, uh, brought you a little something to make you feel better." Prentiss pulled out a box from her tote bag. "Cookies," she smiled. "Oatmeal chocolate chip, your favorite."

"Awww, thanks Emily. Did you bake them yourself?"

"Yeah. Secret family recipe," she winked. That was a total lie. The only thing she could cook was macaroni and cheese from the box, and even that she usually burned. She had a feeling Reid could see right through her lie, but he was willing to overlook it.

"Here," she offered, "we can go sit on the couch. I'll bring the cookies."

She watched him hobble over to the couch. It was kind of sexy watching him hobble. Not like she was enjoying his pain, but she found it sexy how determined he was to walk.

"Is there anything on TV?" she asked.

"Nothing in particular," Reid replied. "Though there was a fascinating infomercial on the newest edition of Encyclopedia Britannica."

Prentiss stared at him. She knew she shouldn't be surprised, but Encyclopedia Britannica?

"I'm just kidding, Em!" he laughed nervously. "Just kidding…" That was a total lie. He was actually really excited about Encyclopedia Britannica, but he didn't want to seem "uncool" to Prentiss. He had a feeling Prentiss could see right through his lie, but she was willing to overlook it.

She smiled. This was perfect. She was sitting next to her dream guy. She looked over at him, and felt the urge to kiss him. No, she thought. He won't know what you're doing. And then your friendship will be ruined. But, maybe he feels the same way… No, that's impossible. I'm not smart enough for him. Oh well. I'll just sit here and enjoy his company.

He smiled. This was perfect. He was sitting next to his dream girl. He looked over at her, and saw her gazing at him. He felt the urge to kiss her. No, he thought. She won't know what you're doing. And then your friendship will be ruined. But, maybe she feels the same way… No, that's impossible. I'm not beautiful enough for her. Oh well. I'll just sit here and enjoy her company.

They looked into each others' eyes, both turned on, both worried about what might happen next. In an instant of passion, they simultaneously rushed in to kiss. Prentiss' heart started beating faster, and she ran her hand along his shoulder, pulling him in closer. Reid tensed up a little, but let his instinct take over, and he ran his hand through her soft hair. He pulled back for a moment, to catch his breath, and looked at Prentiss.

She looked at him, too. Did I come on too strong? Was he uncomfortable? I've ruined everything. Suddenly, she felt his lips press against hers. His hand ran up her back to her neck, where he pulled her in closer until he could feel her heartbeat. He was glad she had come over. To bring cookies. They were delicious.
