I was sitting in the library during my lunch hour, reading my new book, which had indulged me. The last chapter had ended in a suspenseful but well thought out cliff hanger. I was just about to turn the page to find out who died, and then I heard someone sit beside me. Great, it was Greg. "Hey cutie" he said with a stupid smirk on his face. He grabbed my book- how dare he touch it- and began flipping through the pages, losing my place. "Looks boring" he yawned.
There were no words to describe how much I despised Greg. He was obnoxious, loud, disruptive, inconsiderate, and cocky. Oh, I guess I do have some words to describe him. Yet, for some strange reason, people adored him.
Yes, Greg was good looking, and yes he was on the football team, but popularity had never mattered to me. It's the heart that matters the most.
I yanked my book back from Greg, and left the library without even saying a word to him. I headed to my locker where I grabbed my binders for my next class. I had a few minutes till lunch ended, so I decided to head to my English class early.
I loved English, and I thrived for knowledge. Right now in my English class we are doing a novel study. We got to read the book of our choice, and then write an essay about it. My English teacher assigned it last week, and I was almost finished writing my essay.
I walked into my English class and I was surprised to see a girl in the class already. My English teacher smiled at me and said "Hello honey. This is Bea. She's new, and loves to read. I assigned her seat right next to yours." I smiled at Bea. She looked so friendly. I sat down beside her, and noticed that she had chosen the same book as me for the novel study. She must have good taste.
"Hi, my name is Bea. It's nice to meet you." She said polielty.
"Hi, it's nice to meet you too." I said back.
We chatted until the class bell run. She was kind, sweet, and intelligent. She had a good heart. I really liked her.
Greg was the next to walk into the classroom, and when he saw me talking to Bea, his eyes narrowed and he looked jealous.
Our class ended an hour later. English class was always seemed to end so quickly. It was the last period of the day, so I decided to stay and chat with my English teacher for a few more minutes. It was nice having someone who loved literature as much as I did.
After our conversation ended, I walked down the stairwell and I saw Beatrice pressed up against a wall with Greg up against her. My first instinct was to turn around, because I presumed that they were making out, but when I looked closer, I saw that Bea's nose was bleeding, and that Greg was punching her
"We have no place for dykes in this school!" He yelled, while throwing another punch.
I ran towards them, and punched Greg in the face, and then kicked him, well you know where. He fell to the ground, groaning.
"Bea, are you okay?" I exclaimed. She looked horrible. There was blood all over her face and clothes.
"I think so." Bea said, and despite everything, still smiling.
I walked Bea down to the nurses room in the school office. Before Bea went to the nurse to get fixed up, and before I went to report the incident to the principal, Bea said "Would you like to go on a date with me on Friday?"
"As long as there is books involved." I said, smiling
