Love is much like a wild rose, beautiful and calm, but willing to draw blood in its defense

A Wild rose, beautiful and calm, but willing to draw blood in its defense. Ron's musings on his Daughter.

A WILD ROSE

He waved, he knew the train had already left but he continued waving. An odd feeling of bereavement ran through Ron as his first child left off for Hogwarts. If he squinted hard enough he could just see a bushy red head sitting next to the window.

"Come dear…" a soft voice murmured. Ron clasped his large hand around his wife's small one. "Hermione?" Ron started off hesitantly "Yes?" "Rose….she will be alright…right?"

Hermione let out a small laugh "Quit worrying Ron, honestly. She's a smart girl; she knows not to get herself into trouble and besides she has Al and her 10 other cousins to keep her safe."

"There are two things wrong with what you just said. One: You were a smart girl but look at all the trouble you got into and two: With James and the twins there what chance does anyone have of being safe?"

Hermione just laughed this off "Let her have her fun, Ron. I bet when Hugo goes in a few years you'd be begging him to get into mischief" she raised her eyebrow daring him to contradict her. "Well, we have to have someone to uphold the Ron Weasley reputation" he added sheepishly. "I'm going to go talk to Ginny for moment. I'll be right back, ok?" she gave his hand a small squeeze and left.

"I know how you're feeling mate" Harry clapped his hand on Ron's shoulder. "Yeah I know….."He let out a small sigh "She's so beautiful and smart. Just like her mother. Promise me something Harry."

Harry looked cautiously at Ron "Ok….What?"

"If any punk even tries to get anywhere near Rose, we'll use everything in our power to get rid of him. We might have to get James and the Twins to be her bodyguards, Lily's as well as soon as she goes to Hogwarts."

Harry chuckled in response "Deal. Her name suits her by the way. Rose"

"Huh? You mean because she has vibrant red hair and rosy cheeks?"

"Yeah but it also suits her personality."

"How?"

"Well a wild rose is beautiful and calm to look at but is willing to draw blood in defense. Do you remember the hex she threw at James last Christmas? I'd say she was exactly like a wild rose."

Ron lightened up "Blimey. Never thought of it that way. Yeah, she'll be fine, she has her mother's brain and my…my…charisma. Yeah!"

"Ha! She has your temper. Anyway lets go get a bite to eat at the Leaky Cauldron, what do you say?"

"Sure…sure. Oh and Harry?"

"Yeah?"

"Remind me to ask Ginny to teach Rose the Bat Bogey Hex"
