"George? Can I talk to you for a second?" Delaney asked coolly.

"Sure. Let's go over there."

As they walked he noticed a slight blush creeping up into her cheeks. He wanted so badly to take her into his arms and hold her forever.

"So George, I was wondering if Fred had a date for the ball yet."

"Wha..."

"Does Fred have a date!?" she asked indignantly.

"Well, no. Not yet. Why?" he said his face falling thinking his love for her was a lost cause.

"Um, well Alicia would really like to go with him. Do you think maybe you could ask him if he ...ya know?" she inquired turning even more red.

As a huge smile of relief shown on his face as he replied, "Of course. Anything for a fellow teammate and best friend."

"Oh. Well, thank you then. See you later," and with that she pecked him on the cheek and began to walk away.

"Hey, Delaney! Wait!" he called as he grabbed her arm.

"George? What is it?"

"Do you want to go to the ball with me? I mean if you don't that's okay but I would really..." he was stopped by a hand now covering his mouth.

"I'd love to," she whispered into his ear as she removed her hand and wrapped it around his neck.

Blushing furiously, he hugged her back and didn't want to let go. They stayed like that for a long time until they heard a whistle. They practically flew apart while Fred couldn't help but laugh his little bum off behind them. George, basically the color of their house flag, advanced with his fist balled up ready to knock out half of Fred's teeth.

"George! STOP!"

"I'm gonna...what?" he stopped short of Fred's cowering face.

Delaney rushed over to the two and grabbed George's arm, "He was just joking, you know. There's no reason to hit him when he may already have a date," she winked. He calmed down at that and a smirk crossed his face.

"Well you do have a point. Maybe we should just tell him who likes him then."

"No, no I think he should have to figure this one out for himself. Don't you?" she giggled grabbing George's hand and pulling him towards the common room as he stuck his tongue out toward Fred who was standing there dumbfounded.
