Hikaru shirt less. Hikaru pant less. Hikaru… Kaoru closed his eyes against the flood of forbidden images. He gripped his pen fiercely, trying to concentrate on the flow of words coming from the French teachers' mouth. He could never tell his brother how he felt, he knew that. Hikaru would be disgusted, shocked. Kaoru knew this, but still…
Sitting on Hikarus' double bed at home (he never used his own), Kaoru twisted the silk sheet in his fingers. This was so unfair. He had never asked to fall in love with his twin!
"Kaoru?" Oh crap. When had Hikaru come in the room? This was such bad timing! He stood up, forcing a smile on his face. Behind the false happiness his eyes were pleading for Hikaru to know, to understand. However, Kaoru was an actor, Hikaru would never see through his mask…
But Hikaru was an actor too, Kaoru remembered, far too late. By now they were standing in the middle of the room, silently looking at each other. He didn't remember walking over to his brother. They were so close, nearly touching. Kaoru didn't dare move, for fear of breaking this spell that held them frozen in time.
"Kaoru? What was wrong today in school? Y-You've been unhappy for weeks, I… It isn't something I've done, is it!?" Hikaru blurted out, catching Kaoru off guard.
"What? No! No, it's nothing you've done it's…" Kaoru trailed off miserably, suddenly aware of the pain in Hikarus' eyes. I have to tell him, it's ripping us both apart he realised.
He took a deep breath, taking in every tiny detail of his twins' face, the delicate shadows cast in an intricate pattern by his eyelashes, the way the light of the dying sun touched his cheek, the way his hair fell slightly forward over his beautiful golden eyes. He closed his eyes. "Hikaru, I… I love you." Wincing, he waited for Hikaru to say something, anything. Then… Suddenly, Hikarus' right hand was on his shoulder, gripping his school jacket, while the other softly touched Kaorus' cheek. He slowly opened his eyes, as their lips met in a desperate, passionate kiss. Planets could have moved, buildings could have fallen, and neither of them would have noticed. They were falling so fast, that any thoughts about the Outside World flew past, not even nearing significance.
They gasped simultaneously, and Hikaru pulled Kaoru into a burning embrace. Their identical shadows merged, and in that moment two perfect twins celebrated that the other was all they would ever need.
