He ducked his head low to avoid her glance, pretending to review a file in front of him. Frustrated, he pulled out his iPod. He had never needed to listen to music at work before, always perfectly content to make his own entertainment with her, but with the wedding approaching quickly and Kelly flitting around reception talking about dresses, it was getting harder and harder to appear nonchalant when he talked to her, and he found himself needing a distraction more and more. In this case, he put it on shuffle and opened the travel agent's website again. He really needed to pick a destination, and he really had no clue. He had never really experienced that wanderlust that some people felt, the kind of urge that made them take a year off and bum around Europe looking artistically homeless. He liked Scranton. He clicked through the "Featured Destinations" on the main page but nothing caught his eye. He could feel her looking at him and tried to ignore it. Finally he couldn't anymore and he turned to look at her, giving her one of his usual sarcastic eyerolls and gesturing towards the screen as if he was working. She seemed satisfied by his faked normalcy and he allowed himself to zone out again. His music seemed to be playing through a curtain somewhere… it sounded far away. Still, through the fog in his brain, he liked the song that was playing. It had been a while since he listened to anything that wasn't Radiohead's House of Cards, which seemed to sum up his situation well. This song reminded him of who he used to be. Looking at the iPod, he saw that it was Australia by the Shins. Hmm, the gears in his brain started turning. He wouldn't have to speak another language, for one…
