"Get away from me!" Avvi yelled, the drone closing in as her back hit
the edge of her desk. Her bow was pulled taught, the arrow begging to
fly. It wouldn't do much good against the hard metal of Help3r's death
machines, but her guns were far away and the bow was already in her hands upon opening her eyes.
The drone kept coming. "I said back the fuck off!" The arrow flew
forward as she screamed. The wood glowed blue as it seemed to split
and become three, each one ricocheting off of the drone and sinking into the
walls around them.
Her swearing became nothing but a scream as Avvi thrashed awake, back
against the foot of her bed and bow in hand. "That was a stupid dream.
Though I do like the idea of my light channel...ing." Clicking on the light after calming down a bit,
revealing three glowing arrows stuck into the walls and ceiling of the
bedroom. Their light flickered and died as she watched, dumbstruck at
what she had done.
"No one is going to believe this..." Avvi gathered pulled the quiver tighter to her chest and ran
out through the halls to the kitchen.
"GUYS!" She burst through the door to see the table full of
butterflies eating breakfast.
"What the devil?" Tarvok asked through a mouthful of eggs, it was
clear he hadn't slept yet.
"I got it, I know what I can do now!" Avvi bounced up and down, bow
held tightly to her chest.
"I'm with Tarvok here, what the hell are you on about?" Anna
scratched her head.
"Dallas, is that your bow? I thought it broke when you were dropped here." Chouji put his bacon sandwich down.
"I hadn't noticed… Oh who cares! To the range, now! You have to see it!" Avvi ran off to set up targets in the courtyard, tripping on Coop as he appeared under her feet.
"Oh, hi Litt…" He yelped as she dragged him back to his feet and hauled her off to the range.
"Hey Coop, no time!" She let go grabbed a handful of targets from a bin as others filed out into the yard.
She took her stance and a deep breath, pulling the arrow and concentrating. It flew with a soft
whistle and hit one target, it didn't split, it didn't glow.
"Okay, so Roivas will be happy to know that her Little Butterfly has good
aim." She heard someone mutter as everyone laughed as they went back
to breakfast. Others were welcoming Coop to his new HOME and offering to show the confused boy around.
"What, no. I..." She looked at the painted wood in her right hand. "I made three at once. I have the holes in my room to prove it!" Avvi turned back to see Tarvok still standing in the doorway.
"Are you sure it wasn't just a dream? We heard you having a nasty nightmare." He walked up next to her and surveyed the clean bulls eyes on the middle target.
"It wasn't just a nightmare, I swear! I woke with all this crap and ugh!" She threw the bow to the ground and kicked a clump of dirt at the target.
"Maybe you're just thinking too hard about when you'll get your power that it's causing you to dream about having them?" Tarvok clapped her on the back and motioned inside.
"Now get it, it's fuckin' hot out here." They started to head inside when the first attacks were heard.
