A/N: This takes place sometime in the summer after the battle with Voldemort. It's just a simple piece, and it's just a little thing I imagine Ron would have done for Hermione.

Disclaimer: I do not own any of the following characters. They are the ingenious creation of the amazing J.K. Rowling.

"Ron?" Hermione asked, walking barefoot to where the tall redhead stood. He chucked a gnome off into the distance and turned around to her, smiling.

"Hey there, 'Mione. Hot today, isn't it?" he replied, brushing his hair out of his face. He stood facing the Burrow, surrounded by the huge garden. Hermione smiled back at him.

"George said you were looking for me," she replied.

"Oh, yeah. I wanted to show you something, 'Mione," he said, grabbing her hand. She grasped the large, slightly sweaty, palm of the boy as he started to lead her towards the Weasley broom shed. Dropping her hand for a moment, Ron ran over to the shed and took out his old broom and, as what seemed to be an afterthought, grabbed a picnic basket that was standing by the shed entrance. He returned to Hermione, who looked curiously at the two objects.

"Come on," Ron said. Hermione's expression quickly changed to one of amusement and horrification.

"Where are you taking me? You know I don't like flying!" she exclaimed. Ron grinned widely.

"Relax, it's only a little bit away. It's just too hot to walk today, and besides, Mum won't freak out completely if she sees a broom gone," he explained. Hermione bit her lip, but took the picnic basket away from him.

"Alright, so where are we going?" she asked again.

"It's a surprise. Trust me, you'll love it," he replied. He got onto the broom and patted the space behind him. Hermione sighed and got on behind him. Ron kicked up and the two started drifting over the garden. They rose higher and higher, until they were next to the chimney top. A bit away, Hermione could see Harry and Ginny in some tree, snogging. She giggled softly, then grabbed onto Ron with one hand as he started to fly, the other hand gripped firmly onto the picnic basket.

Ron steered through the trees, past various houses. He landed by a stream, in a large sunny clearing. Hermione registered vaguely that this was the stream Luna had supposedly been fishing for Freshwater Plimpies at the previous winter. Ron grabbed Hermione's hand once more, and started to pull her closer to the stream. She set down the picnic basket at the water's edge and then waded into the water. He followed her, also barefoot. Minnows darted around her ankles in the crisp, cool water. Hermione turned around to see Ron standing a little too close behind her. She shrieked in surprise and he closed his arms around her, laughing. They swayed back and forth for a moment while a small breeze picked up around them.

"Let's have lunch," Ron suddenly whispered in her ear. She twisted her head to have her eyes meet his, and then nodded. Ron waded back to the clearing and lay down a large blanket, and then began to spread food out on it. Hermione followed him back and lay down on the blue cloth. She stared at the bright blue sky above, with not one cloud wandering it.

"'Mione… sandwich?" he asked. She sat up and nodded, and he handed it to her. Instead of taking it, however, she leaned over and took a big bite out of it. Ron laughed while she chewed it over. She leaned over to take another bite but instead of peanut butter and jelly her lips met Ron's. The sudden kiss forced her onto her back, and she embraced him.

They lay there for a while, sometimes kissing and sometimes just watching the sky turn darker. The food lay forgotten, attacked by an army of ants unnoticed by the couple. As the sky was streaked with red and orange, Ron turned slightly to Hermione and whispered, "I love you."
