"Here without you by three doors down"

*Sighs* it's just not the same without him,' I thought looking out the widow of the crappy hotel room I was currently residing in. I mean, sure, he wasn't the ideal partner; with his silence and his cold glares and all around dick-ish attitude but hey, he was company and in an organization made up entirely of evil s-rank criminals, company is a nice plus. And he did tend to get us better hotels I thought as a cockroach skittered across my foot.

I glared at it, attempting to take out my pent up sadness and anger on the insect. Why did he have to die anyway; it's not like he deserved it. That right, I knew his secret of how he was ordered to kill his entire clan because they planned a coup de etat to overthrow the Hokage.

I raked my hands threw my blue hair violently, turning away from the depressing scene in front of me and plopped down on the dingy bed, a puff of dust floating out of the warn material. The calming pitter-patter of the rain against the glass was soothing my tired mind. I closed my eyes and listened. Thunder rumbled in the distance and a small smile graced my lips as I thought of how I learned of this information.

It was our first mission together as partners, at first his detached attitude and pride irritated me to no end. But then one night, while I was on guard duty, I heard itachi mumbling in his sleep. Usually, being the gentleman I am, I would just ignore it but my curiosity got the better of me. Shifting closer I heard him explain everything in his sleep, apparently pleading with someone in his dreams. I only learned later he was pleading with his younger brother to forgive him.

I knew instantly that he wasn't the cold blooded murder everyone feared him for. Every night his let a little more slip until I had finally pieced together the entire story. I let out another harsh sigh before rolling on my side and closing my eyes, willing myself to fall asleep. The last thing I remember seeing before crashing was his face, whispering, "in a sea of a thousand lies, the truth drifts just below the surface."
