"Don't cry to me, if you loved me
You would be here with me
You want me, come find me
Make up your mind"
"Jadelyn Marie West, I promise I will find you and your brother! I promise!"
"And when I was little and Jace wasn't born yet, you promised you loved me."
"I promised I loved you more than Dad did and I think I do. Your father hasn't even tried to see you for the past three years!"
"Corection, I haven't tried to see him. And I think that he loves me more. He came to see my play and he pays my bills for me to go to Hollywood Arts, something you would never do."
"I don't have a job, Jadelyn. Hollywood Arts is expensive!"
"Well, maybe you should get one, then, instead of relying on the child support money dad gives you."
"I use that money for your food and the roof over your heads!"
"I'm tierd of having to support you, Mom."
"You never had to!" she shouts back at me.
"Should have let you fall and lose it all
So maybe you can remember yourself"
"I love you Jade!"
"Can't keep believing, we're only deceiving ourselves
And I'm sick of the lie and you're too late"
"Jade!"
"Goodbye, Mom," I say, as I hang up the payphone. "Okay." I turn my attention to my little brother, Jace. He's ten and I'm sixteen. "What are we going to do?"
"I don't know," he responds. "You're in charge, not me."
"I know," I mumble. "I just don't know what to do."
"Maybe we shouldn't have left Mom," he tells me.
"Why? She was abusive and always drunk. She doesn't love us, Jace. We needed to get away from her."
"Well, shouldn't we get further away from our house? We're only, like, a block away."
"Yeah, but-"
"Jadelyn! Jace!" Mom calls in the distance. Crap, she found us.
"Run!" I shout to Jace.
"Jade!"
"Don't cry to me, if you loved me
You would be here with me
You want me, come find me
Make up your mind" I tell her as we run away. Then, we hear a gun shot and a window by our heads shatters. I let out a scream.
"You can't excape me." Mom says. "Couldn't take the blame, sick with shame
Must be exhausting to lose your own game." I walk up to my mom.
"Put the gun down, Mom! I thought you said that you loved us!"
"I did, but you're right, maybe I don't love you as much as I thought."
"You bastard!" I say, slapping her.
"Selfishly hated, no wonder you're jaded
You can't play the victim this time and you're too late" And with that, she shoots the gun again. And this time she hits somebody: Jace.
"Jace!" I scream, tears welling up in my eyes I run over to be by his side.
"Jade," he mumbles as death overtakes him.
"How could you fucking kill him?" I scream at her.
"I only want what's best for you two," she says and an evil smile overtakes her face.
"So don't cry to me, if you loved me
You would be here with me
You want me, come find me
Make up your mind"
Mom laughs.
"You never call me when you're sober
You only want it 'cause it's over, it's over
How could I have burned paradise?
How could I? You were never mine"
So don't cry to me, if you loved me
Mom shoots the gun again. It hits the edge of my ear.
You would be here with me
Mom throughs the gun on the ground.
Don't lie to me
I grab the gun.
Just get your things
I aim the gun at Mom's head.
"I've made up your mind" I pull the trigger.
