This story takes place a couple of months after "Breaking Dawn"
When everything has settled down, something huge and mysterious began to happen. And this time, it's a lot worser than the Volturi. This is the beginning of a new family coming into the Packs' and the Cullens' lives. How will they cope with the danger coming to them?
Disclaimer: I do not own Twilight but I do own the OCs: Robin Lockhart, Corliss Lockhart, Yuki Lockhart, and Tala Lockhart.
BEEP!! BEEP!! BEEP!!
Alarms went off that night as we made our plan to escape. I was running down the hallway with a couple of allies with me to get to a certain room. Heavy footsteps and shouts were heard from font and behind, but it was all replaced by screams and then silence.
The young man next to me, looking around his 20s, had used his ice powers to freeze them. His name is Yuki; he has short-cropped white silvery hair and icy blue eyes, he was pale, and did I mention his temperature was below 0 degrees of a Fahrenheit?
On the other hand, there was the other one that was running to my left, and she was hot, literally, almost above 104 degrees of a Fahrenheit. She has a pretty long golden hair that goes way past her shoulders and dark hazel eyes. She was pretty much taller than me, maybe around 6'0" but Yuki was taller by 2 inches. Anyway, her name is Tala.
And now comes to the introduction of me; my name is Robin Lockhart. I have short black hair and blue sapphire eyes. Unlike Tala and Yuki, I have a regular temperature of a normal human. I wasn't also tall like them; I was short, 5'2" and that's the height that I will be in for the rest of my condemned life. Yes, I am a half-vampire and half-human.
I know you all would like to know what's really going on here. Truth is, we are in a secret lab hidden somewhere near the border of Canada. It's a lab where they do animal testing, including human testing. Of course, we weren't humans to begin with but they somehow managed to find out what we really are and they captured us.
We've all been locked up in here for so long and we've grown tired of it. My father, who also had been captured, formulated a plan for us to escape. He helped us with the plan and we managed to pull it off, right now, we're heading over to his cell to release him.
After a couple more twists and turns, we found a large door with a large cell. Yuki quickly scanned the ID card that she had stolen from a guard and uses it to open the large door. The door opened revealing my father, sitting on a chair, his wrists tightly chained to the chair's armrest, and a tightly secured metallic helmet that in a way blocked his power but it was now useless.
'Right on time, kids!' He thought out with glee as a smirk plastered upon his face, using his British accent. The accent is somewhat annoying to me but I have half of it; I have an American British kind of accent. Anyway, my father was rather satisfied that his plan worked out just fine. 'Now, get me out! Please?'
I sighed and shook my head; my father can be so embarrassing of the way he acts. How were we related again? I heard a gasp from the tall girl next to me; she was still not used to my father's voice in her head.
"It's really strange to hear some one in your head," she said as she went over to the side of the wall and flicked down the switch. Automatically, the helmet opened and came off and chains broke away too as my father stood up from the seat that he has been sitting on for almost a decade. His name is Corliss; he has black shoulder-length hair and red eyes, and he was pale, and the black outfit he was wearing only made him look paler, but on the bright side, he was okay when he flashed such a cheesy smile.
"It's not that strange," He said, defending his power; he liked it a lot. His power was strange but it works for the owner and the ones affected to it. His power is that he could make a telepathic conversation open to anyone, including himself; best part is that he can listen through thoughts of people but it was tricky since he would always think in his mind and people will hear his voice in their heads when they are telepathically connected. He's still working on that part but at least, he has more control of his thoughts than we do.
"Ahh! My daughter is safe," Corliss said as he went over to me and gave me a big hug. I frowned a bit when I looked at him; he was taller than Yuki like around 6'4" enough to make me look like the size of a fish. 'Like I didn't feel any shorter,' I thought. Luckily, my dad couldn't hear it since he could only do one thing at a time. It's either talking telepathically or talking through his mouth: a mere disadvantage.
"Sorry to ruin the reunion but we need to get out of here," said Yuki.
I pulled away from my father's icy hug while he flashed a smile to the cold guy.
"Why, yes of course," he said. "Let's go!" He added with a glee.
I groaned. 'So embarrassing…'
Pushing that aside, we started running off with such great speed, well not Yuki; my father has to help him. Tala has to shift into wolf-mode and the black outfit she was wearing stretched comfortably into her new gigantic size. These black outfits they gave us were really something, it's like indestructible, except the fact that sharp weapons could only get through it, and that meant bullets.
Speaking of bullets, they were starting to fire at us and it was not helping much to their situation. We speed off and manage to get out of the huge lab facility. We were now in the forest, and those demons will never catch us; it's ironic to be calling them demons.
We kept running, never stopping, until we saw a cliff and with no hesitation, we all jumped off and fall straight into the ocean. It was a long fall but this is where I used my powers.
'Go, my little baby girl!' My dad thought out excitedly.
I groaned in annoyance. 'Don't call me that!'
I heard Tala barked out a laugh and saw Yuki smirking, it only means they were also in the telepathic conversation. That was so embarrassing.
I shook my frustration away and concentrated hard at the harsh current beneath us. I moved my arms in way to control the ocean currents; soon the ocean began to lift, creating a tunnel.
No, I don't control any elements. I actually control the force, the aura everywhere; shortly explained its telekinesis. But not exactly, I have to use my hands to move things, using my mind is a bit harder. My power is both mental and physical but it has a side effect to me.
Anyway, it was now time. 'Now Yuki!'
Yuki shot his hand out and ice came rushing out of his palms, freezing the tunnel that was created, making it a slide. We fell into it and began sliding down until we splashed into the coldest water that I have ever been on. Unlike them, I have a regular temperature so right now I'm freezing to death.
They see this and Yuki froze a thick flat ice on the surface and we got up on it. The black outfits that we were wearing were waterproof but I was still cold. I was glad Tala noticed that as she changed back to her human form and her outfit stretched back to her regular size like elastic, then she went over to me and wrapped her arms around me.
The heat spread out fast, now I don't have to be worried of getting a cold. I was also glad that Corliss and Yuki were creating a distance from me due to their abnormally cold bodies. I was doing fine but then there was the side effect.
I fell limply into Tala's arms and lost my feet, we were now sitting on the dense flat ice while my head spun around more and more for a bit until it finally died down.
"Did it hurt?" my father asked with concern.
"No, I'll manage," I replied. I didn't want him to get even more concern.
I hated this power of mine but at the same time loved it. I loved telekinesis but it had a side effect. After I was done using it, a minute or two, a striking pain would hit me. The pain varies, depending only how much I've been using it. I hated it though. In my years of my half-vampire life, I have never heard of a side effect of any vampires with powers. Well, I guess I'm different: a defect or something.
'No you're not!' I looked at my dad who was now grinning sheepishly. 'Oops… my bad…'
I glared at him; this was his disadvantage I was talking about. If he opens a telepathic conversation secretly just to know some one thought, he can't keep his mind voice shut without getting caught. Moreover, it benefited me.
"I can't believe you…" I said sourly. He threw me a smile again, sheesh, when is he going to stop smiling once in a while?! He was even smiling during 10 years of being stuck in that horrible facility as lab rats. But I was-no-am glad we were okay.
'Awe…oops again…'
"DAD!!" I shouted, startling Tala and Yuki.
They shot my father and I a confused look but I just waved it off, letting them know that it was nothing.
We sailed silently letting the ocean current drift us to where our destination would be on.
It's been a week since we passed through Sidney and Victoria in Vancouver Island. My dad and I managed to get all the necessities required for us to travel longer distance but we needed more than just that. He stole money from people while I buy the food ad other requirements. We bought a lot of extra clothes most of it for Tala since she doesn't wear the black suit anymore so normal clothes rip when she phase.
Moreover, we even bought a hair dye for Yuki; he wasn't too happy about it but my dad managed to convince so now Ice Boy has dark brown hair. How my dad managed to convince him? Well, it's because Yuki and Tala are now my father's adopted children meaning they're my siblings. Why? Well, we made a deal while we were planning our escape back to the lab facility; my dad said he'd let Tala and Yuki join if they become his father and they reluctantly agreed. However, they never knew how annoying he actually is, but I have enough patience to put up with him for the last 87 years of my life.
Anyway, back to the topic, we were now sailing on a boat that my dad bought and now, we stopped along the shore. Luckily, it was the middle of the night so no one was around. The atmosphere was cold and misty, I shivered when I thought something bad would happen but I doubted it, knowing that nothing is scarier than a vampire, a half-breed, a werewolf, and some guy with ice powers that could freeze you to death.
Tala wrapped her arms around me again and my shivering faded away. Seriously, she was like a portable heater and I liked it. Yuki and Corliss distance themselves from me again. We got off the boat and started to walk on foot; we could have run but Tala will rip her clothes off and we don't want to waste any clothing unless it's for an emergency.
Although we never got tired of walking, well, I did. I was short enough to get a piggyback ride by my dad; I refused, at first, but then I was starting to get dizzy and my head began to ache so I took up on his offer. I fell asleep but not so deeply, I can hear Tala, Yuki, and Corliss talking.
"So…how long are we going to stay here?" Yuki asked.
"Hmm… I suppose we can stay here for a month. We already gave the Onuzaki a wild goose chase on Vancouver Island. They won't be able to catch us so soon. Besides, we used perfume to cover our tracks; them Onuzaki devil mutts won't be able to track us. By the way, nice idea, Yuki"
Yuki laughed at the idea. "I'm smart that way"
The Onuzaki dogs are the most best highly advance trackers with formulated genetics created by the Onuzaki scientists. The dogs would pick up a scent and they would be able to remember it and they could track it down miles away. Yuki's plan was that we would wear a strong fragrant perfume for the whole week on the island, unfortunately for Tala, Corliss, and me, but it worked. We used it for the whole week while my dad goes all over the island, embedding all our real scents in every area by using our black suits. We were thankful though that today is the last time we'll ever wear that stupid perfume, now that they won't be able to know where we really are.
They kept talking about where to camp and what to do tomorrow while my father carried me the whole way. I was silent; I made no sound, not even anything that relates to sleeping soundly. It was as if I was dead, and this is the same sleeping form that I had ever since my first month in Onuzaki Lab.
My first month there was hell; they've done so many horrible things to me, worse than anything I could imagine. I cried every night on the cold hard white flat surface, and as weeks passed by, my sleep was now silent; not even the slightest snore could be heard from me. Moreover, as I sleep, I could not dream anymore. That is probably why I can hear the conversation between my dad and my new adopted siblings, but I never told them.
I liked this sleep; I can be fully aware of what was going on by each passing second and remember it by next morning. All thanks to the 10 years I've spent in Onuzaki Lab. What else could I thank for them for nearly destroying our minds? I'll think about it later.
"Here we go, we're in the forest of… what was it again?"
"…La Push…"
"Right! Right! LA-PUSH! So… hmmm… it's… 8 in the morning, I think, so I need to get some food, you kids stay here and don't worry, if you all start wandering off and get lost, I'll find you. I'll be back soon. What do you guys want?"
"A gallon of water and maybe some blue Gatorade"
"Meat, edible meat, and water too"
"Okay! A gallon of water, blue Gatorade, and some edible meat of any kind…hmm, I wonder what Robin wants-"
"Chicken…" I murmured as I opened my blue eyes slowly. My dad was scared for a bit, not expecting my voice so soon and he was contemplating whether or not if I was already awake, and how would I know what he's thinking? He's my dad, and he has the simplest mind on Earth even an idiot could figure out what he's thinking.
"Hey, that's not nice…oops," my dad said. He was eavesdropping again in my thoughts. I got to learn to control my thoughts.
"Dad…privacy…please…" I muttered as I got off his back, put down my backpack, and sat down on the dirty grass with twigs and acorns everywhere. I hate this kind of forest; I wanted to be in a forest where the grass will always be green and no dead leaves that itch my skin were anywhere in it.
I didn't pay attention when Tala pulled me off the ground towards to the log she was sitting on as she sat back on it and put me on her lap and cradled me. Yes, I'm 16 and I'm being treated like a baby but I didn't mind since her presence is soothing…almost mother-like. I can't help it that I soon fall asleep again and my dad took off in half a second. When his presence could no longer be felt, a conversation between my siblings came up.
"She's asleep again…is she sick?" Yuki asked, playing the role of a big brother right. Oh if only he knew that I could actually hear them in my sleep.
"No…but she is exhausted… I guess the after effect from that experiment on her is still taking effect…" Tala said.
Yes, that time, no wonder I was always tired. That time when the experiment went wrong…that time before we escaped…that time…
"I can't believe we're not going to do anything about it! We should have just destroyed the damn place!"
"You know we don't have a chance against them! They know our weaknesses! We would fall to our knees before we make one single scratch to them… It's fortunate for us that they weren't there that night…"
"Like you said, they weren't there that night! So-"
"So they'll come for revenge! You know how they are! They will erase us so that no one knows the existence of the Onuzaki Lab…"
"…Damn…I hate them…and humans…"
"Not all humans are bad and you know that…"
"But they're prejudice and they'll always think of us as monsters! They will never see us the way we want them to see…they will never understand us… no one will… especially me… I'm the LAST of my kind…"
And the conversation ended there, only silence was heard. We all wait and wait until my father, Corliss, comes back with our food.
(Corliss POV)
"Now…let me see…" I whispered to myself. I need to get a gallon of water, blue Gatorade, edible meat and water, and chicken. Chicken. Sigh. I'm really not used to my daughter eating human food but then again she's a half-breed and human food can get rid of the thirst…right? I'll never eat that human food, it taste like sand!
My daughter has almost every bit of being a vampire and almost every bit of being human. She sleeps, she eats, not to mention able to control the force around her with not only her mind, but also her whole body so… it's not technically telekinesis but it is in a way that is shortly explained. Its mostly both physical and mental technique so I bet Renata, Aro's shield, won't be able to get rid of my daughter that easily.
Sigh. What a life that I have gone through; I have existed for over 500 years. Long ago, I was born in 1525 and died…well, reborn in 1545 during the Battle of Solent. I was on board the Mary Rose but we didn't survive that long and we never actually knew a vampire had boarded the ship and much to my annoyance it was a French vampire and bit me! However, I don't really care anymore so no hard feelings of the past.
At first, I never thought of the French as enemies, I thought that our country could be peaceful with theirs but I was wrong. But that was all in the past; right now they have form an alliance as well as here in U.S.A. despite their views of their History.
Enough of this history, I need to go…oh that's a good store.
I stopped running and hid behind some trees and casually walked out like I had been there the whole time as I read the sign. Forks Thrifty Mart. I'll bet they have food there. I went inside and as usual, all eyes were on me. Okay, that sounded so shallow for me but it is true due to my pale and handsome body as the ladies, back in the day, always say.
I see three young women near the exit, looking at me with awe in their faces and I gave them a warm smile. I see blushes arousing on their cheeks, oh, how they look delicious. No. Wait. Corliss, concentrate. "Good morning ladies," I greeted them and passed them by, and they giggle and sigh with content. Yup, I still got it.
I took a basket and started exploring the whole store to see what I can find. They definitely had some food there for a sale so I ordered a bag of some chicken wings and steak and placed the items on the basket I carried. I was about to leave but I stopped when the employee talked to me.
The employee on the cash register was a woman on her mid 20s; she has long brown hair and dark brown eyes. She looked fairly pretty but a bit disgusting due to her…over make up.
"Hey handsome" Oh such grotesque. "How's your day?"
"Umm…very well, and how about you…fair lady?" I asked her. Oh, how unbearably disgusting this is. I actually felt fear and the need to run out of here. Her blood doesn't even seem appealing to me. Nothing so much is appealing of her anymore; I take back my thought of her being fairly pretty. I'll bet once the make-up is off, she'd look even worse.
"Oooh! A gentleman!" Okay, I had enough.
"Umm…I'm in a hurry…so excuse me," and with that I tread away, ignoring the calls of the cash register woman. I shuddered one last time before finally I was out of her sight, the moment I turned to the aisle. However, it wasn't what I expected.
I bumped into a shopping cart that was well over-stacked with much ingredients of food. Many of it fell to the floor.
"Oh no," the lady said as she bent down to pick them up and as a gentleman I helped as well. I picked up most of it as I stack them neatly in the cart. "I am so sorry, miss," I started. "I need to watch where I'm going next time, I was simply in a hurry…"
My sentence trailed away as I stare at her. My eyes sadden when I saw the scar across the right side of her face; it looked like she was clawed by something with such a huge paw like a tiger, but there weren't any tigers around. It may have been a bear but the claw markings were different.
However, the scar wasn't really what my eyes caught at first, no matter how much damage it did to her, she still looked beautiful. And, what caught my eyes were hers, it was fear. Fear that made my throat burn as her scent came to me strongly but I have more self-control than that. Her face turned pale as her right eye widened, showing complete fear. I had the assumption that she knows what I am. I guess staying here in a month was a bad idea after all but then again, who would believe her? Oh yeah, Onuzaki.
We stared at each other for a while, until I bent down once more to pick up the last item that was dropped. I stood up and handed it to her, giving her a smile. "Here you go, miss. Once again, I'm sorry for bumping into you…well your cart, like that"
She hesitantly took the item from me and tried her best to smile, "I-it's alright…" But still, fear is there. She is afraid of me and I'll bet she definitely knows what I truly am. I need to change this atmosphere setting; she is making me thirsty!
"So, any reason why you are buying so much food?"
"O-oh umm," she stammered a little. I could feel that she didn't quite felt comfortable talking with me. Fear still had her. "I am making dinner for my fiancée and his friends…"
"A party going on?"
"W-well…sort of"
"They eat that much? I feel sad that you had to cook so much"
"I can take it" Ahh, yes, her fear is disappearing.
"Then I envy you," I started to say. "I can't cook really. My house will burn down before I even reach the stove"
She laughed. Yes. Her fear is gone and my thirst is all the way down.
I gave her a warm smile and introduced myself, "I'm Corliss Lockhart, I'm new around here and it seems you've been around here for the longest. Would you mind if I ask you to pinpoint the direction of where I could buy water and some Gatorade?" I asked her as an English gentleman in Britain, not some kind of devious vampire, the way that I assumed of her knowing of what I truly am.
"Oh yes, it's in Aisle 21 all the way down to the left" she explained. I was about to thank her when a rather huge tall man with a cute small girl around 3-4 years old on his shoulders came up behind the lady. He looked really angry. I thought of it as trouble at first but his anger was actually directed all to me. I didn't back up or anything; I just looked at him with curiosity in my eyes.
He was slightly taller than me and looked stronger than me but his dangerous presence faltered when the little girl on his shoulders smiled at me, and well, I couldn't resist a cute face so I smiled back. However, I received a growl from the abnormally tall man. This was awkward.
"Well, I'm off, thank you for the directions miss," I said as I nodded and smiled at her then passed her and as I passed the tall man I as well, gave him a smile and a nod, "Sir, little miss" With that, I left and headed toward to Aisle 21. However, they were still close enough for me to hear.
"Emily, what did he do to you?" I heard the man spoke. So Emily is her name?
"Nothing, Quil" Quil? Laugh.
"You know what he is, right?" Oh my god, they know what I am.
"Yes but… he seemed like a Cullen to me…" A Cullen? Now where had I heard that name from before?
"Emily, that guy's a leech; he has red eyes meaning he drinks human blood. I better go to tell Sam about this" And with that, I heard the man took off, leaving the little girl with the lady named Emily.
Huh. That is strange and yet dangerous at the same time. Who is this Quil? Who is this Sam? I'm sure they're not anything related to the Onuzaki but I'm definitely sure that they think that I pose a threat to them…so I better hurry with my shopping.
I walked bit a faster in human pace as I reached in Aisle 21 in no time. I picked up the blue Gatorade from the aisle and a gallon of spring water. I wonder if they have a gallon of winter water. I snorted at the joke. I should use that on Yuki.
I hurried to the main cash register, away from that woman that tried to flirt with me. Ugh, I can't believe I just thought about her again. Need to push it down. There. Now I'm thinking about buying a gum but I don't want to waste any of my stolen-I mean borrowed money. Okay, whatever, it was stolen but hey the tourists won't miss it.
It took a while but once I got my groceries, I quickly walked out of the grocery and when no one was looking, I darted out fast.
(Robin POV)
I start to wake up when I smell my father's scent nearby. Vampires normally don't have a scent but my father has and it still had a bit of that perfume that we had to wear in Vancouver Island.
I sat up, sweating a bit and I start to pull away from Tala. She understand what I was doing as she gave me space. "Sorry, was I too warm?"
"Yes, too warm," I said. I still feel a little dizzy. I only noticed it now better than I had a week ago. I barely felt anything but normal when we escaped that night, but after that I felt sick. However, it wasn't much as it was like days ago; it was fading away as time pass.
Yuki then sat down next to me when I needed some cooling. I guess not only do I have a portable heater but a portable AC as well. I must be the luckiest half-breed in the world.
"Hello kids!" Corliss shouted as he came in out of nowhere with that big smile of his. "I brought you food!"
He came over to us and handed our breakfast. Tala got her steak, while I got my chicken, and Yuki got his Gatorade and a gallon of spring water.
"Sorry Yuki," my father apologized but for what?
Yuki raised his eyebrow at him as he took his breakfast. "For what?" I was about to find out.
"For getting you spring water instead of winter water," he joked and laughed.
Yuki glared at him, and also at Tala when she laughed along with my-ahem our father. I watched the scene amusingly with interest in my eyes, yet my lips won't let me smile. It's been that way ever since, even before the Onuzaki Lab messed up our lives and our minds.
"Awe, come on Robin, smile a little," my father said. I raised an eyebrow at him. "It wouldn't hurt to smile!" Yeah right.
Suddenly, my father and I froze as smell something coming. Tala noticed this too as we concentrate our noses to see what it is.
"What? What's going on?" Yuki asked, seeing our faces.
"Something is coming…and it has the same scent as me," Tala said.
My father shook his head and said, "No, it's almost the same scent. You just smell a little nicer than them"
"As I remember, the stronger the scent meaning its still fresh," I explained when I overheard some of the scientists in the building talking about another shape shifter much like Tala. "So maybe they are still…new borns?"
"Right, so can anyone tell how many are there?" Corliss asked.
"I can," I replied. I got into a position, putting my hands out to prepare to make a strong gust of force. I forced my arms back then shook it out as the gust of force came out of me.
I see swirls of white aura light, though I could only see it. I feel it stretching longer and longer that could cover up the whole forest. I concentrate the gust of force to where the scent is heading and then that's when the force passed through about 8…9…10, 10 creatures, big, and strong, and its shapes similar to Tala's wolf form. Could they be werewolves, or shape shifters too?
"There are ten, ten werewolves similar to Tala," I explained. "They seem to be heading this way, they're about to attack us, I think, but they're not related to Onuzaki." They let out some sighs but not my dad.
"Oops… I'm going to bet that we're going to meet Quil and this Sam…" Wait who?
"Who?" We all asked and stare at Corliss, looking all guilty and smiling sheepishly.
"Uhh…well…you see, there's this really tall lad I saw in the store…and he hates me and knew exactly what I am…so I think they're here to attack us? I think…"
"Great! Just Great!" Yuki shouted.
"Calm down, Yuki. Like Robin said, they could be new borns so it'll be easier for us to fight them" Tala reasoned with him.
It'll be easier for them. Yuki has been living for almost a 100 years and he ages every 5 years but when he was 75 years old, technically 15 years old, he was captured. Tala's situation is a bit different. She's been living for 37 years, still looking for a mate and to settle in but then she was captured 20 years ago. Pretty much, in both of their lives in the lab, they were trained to be fighters so they'll be okay.
My father and I will be okay too. I have telekinesis, and he has some moves he liked-scratch that-loved to show off.
"Alright then, how about we split up? A competition! To see who would get here first when we get rid of them! But no killing!" Corliss said. My god, he had to treat this like a game.
"This isn't the time to play games, Corliss!" Yuki said and my dad smirked at him.
"Afraid that I'm going to win? Hm?" Hook, line…
"…Fine, let's play," And sinker…
"Alright, so we meet back here right?"
"Yes Tala. Now, don't worry I got us connected telepathically so when are they coming?"
"In about 2 minutes dad," I said.
"Alright! Now, split!" My father ordered and we all dashed through different directions.
My father laughed through our minds and shouted joyfully, 'Let the competition, begin!'
Well, next chapter is when the fight begins.
Sneak Peak:
"'Because we were about to attack her a second ago, Seth, remember?' I shot Quil a glare but when I looked back to my girl, she was gone. I frowned and then suddenly we kind of all felt scared when we felt how angry and how furious Jacob, Sam, and Paul were.
'I'M GOING TO KILL THAT STUPID LEECH!!' Paul screamed and we all cringed..."
