A/N: Not one of my best works, but I just had to post it. It was partially inspired by Starry-Oblivion's story 'A Farewell Letter,' so thanks, Starry!

Rain. I love the rain. I love the feeling of its coolness drizzling down my body. I love how it seems to grab hold of whatever junk was bugging me and just leech it away. I love how it cools me after a heated argument with a certain brother of mine.
I feel safe in the rain. Few people are out and it is much darker. However, there are almost-silent footsteps coming up behind me. I recognize the gait as belonging to the one person in the world who was the last person I wanted to see. Great. Here we go again.
To my surprise, he sat down next to me without a word. That's just not normal for him. I wonder if something is actually bothering him. Like he'd actually admit it.
So here we both are; two brothers sitting on a roof in the rain and both seeming to just wait. His shoulders are hunched forwards. That's something he only does when he's either really tired or actually upset. And I don't mean just a 'have a yelling match between him and me' upset. It's more of a 'something is on my mind' upset. I don't know why, but I know I need to just wait. After what seems like forever, he's the one to break the silence.
"I didn't mean it, ya know."
Ooh…kaaaay…not exactly what I thought he was going to say. Surprised me, really. Well, at least coming out of his mouth with me being right here. I knew that I had to say something fast or he would completely clam up to me again.
"I know. I didn't mean any of that crap either."
Well, it was true after all. His shoulders settle back as though he's relieved. I can almost see a hint of a smile threatening to appear at the corners of his lips.
"Hold on now, I'm not going to go and say 'I'm sorry' or anything like that 'cause I'm not."
The smirk spread completely across his face. "Who said I was sorry?"
He stood back up. The rain had now completely soaked our bandanas and large drops were rolling off of our green skins. He wiped a particularly annoying drip from his forehead and turned towards a nearby fire escape.
"You coming? I don't think we could get much wetter."
His smirk must have been contagious. I felt it growing large on my face.
"You wanna bet?" I retorted. "Go ahead. I'll be right behind you."
He headed back down towards the nearby manhole cover with as much silence as he had come up with. At the bottom, he stopped and looked back up at me.
"Come on, Raph!"
I stood there in the rain for a moment more before leaping down the fire escape and following Leo back home.
So please review! Flames will be used to dry out my wet socks!
