Disclaimer: I own the character and pretty much everything to do with this poem other than the genre. I do not own Maximum Ride for, if I did, I wouldn't be here writing poetry about it.

I do not speak the name,

of those who caused me so much pain.

They exist only in my nightmares,

in sleep and wakefulness.

They did this to me,

the reason I am me.

Do you know what I am?

Do you want to know?

They call me a gift,

A wonder, marvelous.

Others say freak,

I say hell.

My body is covered,

from head, to toe,

with soft, snake scales,

a bright, metallic blue.

Upon my head,

rest two antennae.

They once belonged to a bee,

but now I share the burden.

My eyes glow a bright yellow,

my pupils the pitchest black.

They dim when I am sad,

and flash when I am mad.

Long, thick claws,

replace my nails.

They shine and glisten,

just like a bear's.

A long, black tail,

sprouts from my spine.

It brushes the ground,

and fluffs out like a cat's.

Upon my back,

rest two butterfly wings.

They flutter quite uselessly,

in colors orange and brown.

I was pretty once,

a long time ago.

So long ago, in fact,

I forget what it was like.

To be normal once again,

is my only wish.

The worst part of being who I am,

is knowing I once was different.

I do not speak the name,

of those who caused me so much pain.

They exist only in my nightmares,

in sleep and wakefulness.
