Title: Tell Me In The Morning
Summary: Hunter has something he has to say to Shawn late one night.

"What?"

He snapped, voice laced with tiredness and irritation having been disturbed so late.

But behind the door was a friendly face, wearing a mask of guilt.

"Sorry." He apologised. "I didn't think you could hear me so I thought I'd knock louder." Hunter explained.

"Yeah.... 2am... I'm usually asleep."

"I know it's late....I guess I just needed to see you. I needed to talk to you. About Bret."

A moan escaped from Shawn. Usually his manners would have stopped him from showing such displeasure about something Hunter clearly needed to say but he was tired and it was late. Manners were the first casualty. "What about him?"

"It doesn't involve him that much. I wanted to say sorry to you because... I should have been more supportive. I know it means a lot to you."

"Well thanks, although really a phone call in the morning would have been fine."

"I couldn't sleep. I thought maybe you wouldn't be able to either... obviously wrong about that." Hunter added with a smirk.

Shawn shrugged but smiled at Hunter. "It's fine. I appreciate it really. I will do even more tomorrow when I've had some sleep."

"Okay I get the hint. I'll go."

"Night Hunt."

"Goodnight."

Shawn closed the door and rubbed his hand across his face, tiredness gnawing at him as he went back into the bedroom and climbing straight back into bed.

The bedside lamp was on and he reached over and switched it off, flooding the room with darkness.

"Who was that?" Bret asked, draping his arm across Shawn's body.

"Hunter. Came to talk about you."

"Did you tell him I was in bed with you?"

"Yeah, he was off with me the whole day because I spoke to you, I don't think he's ready to hear about this."

"But you will tell him?"

"When the times right... if there's anything to tell."

"Oh they'll be plenty to tell. Now lets get some sleep. I've waited 12 years to have these arms wrapped around me. Nothing is going to spoil this night."

"Hmm." Shawn muttered tiredly.

"I love you." Bret whispered.

"Tell me again in the morning." Shawn mumbled.

"For the rest of my life."
