The new hallways were large and impressive, as golden as they were in the old palace. Everything had a certain glow from the sun reflecting off the massive pillars. As Loki walked into the dining room, he noticed Thor and Val were already sitting at the table. They both were drinking quite heavily, laughing amongst one another.
A gentle clearing of his throat got them to notice him finally as he sat near them. Valkyrie smirked a little, nudging his shoulder in a way that was slightly more painful than playful. He raised a brow at her, rubbing at it.
Thor cracked a wide grin, gesturing to the food. "It's about time, brother. The food is getting cold."
"Is it?" Loki began dismissively, making himself a plate.
They ate in relative silence. A few times Thor would mention something to Val and she'd nod as he told her stories Loki had heard a thousand times before.
After dinner when she left, Loki made to stand as he noticed Thor's serious expression. That was never a good sign—it usually meant he wanted to talk to someone about something important, and he wasn't in the mood for that.
"Loki, please wait a moment." Thor said—so predictable. Loki rolled his eyes and faced him, sighing a little.
"Yes?" He asked tightly, his jaw tense.
Thor noticed that, laughing a little. "You don't have to listen."
"You'll talk anyway, won't you?" Loki countered, smirking. "You'd talk to a wall, knowing you."
"That's very funny." Thor said sardonically, looking away. "I just wanted to ask if you're attending the wedding."
Loki swallowed hard, a lump stuck somewhere in his throat. "Yes, obviously."
His bride was a woman he'd met not long after Asgard was rebuilt. She was one of the survivors that managed to escape. Not many had survived Thanos' initial attack on the ship. It was a wonder he, Thor, and Val had survived the battle at all. With Starlord's help along with the other guardians, it had been possible for Thor to recover quickly. Loki hadn't been as lucky—narrowly escaping from Thanos hadn't been easy needless to say.
Fooling Thanos into thinking he was dead was a necessity if he wanted to survive. It was trite and overdone, as he'd faked his demise many times before. Still, he felt he had made the right choice and apparently so did Thor. His brother was so glad to have him back on his side it seemed, even offering him position of advisor.
And now, here they were.
"I'm glad to hear that." Thor finally responded, his expression warm.
"Liv is a good woman. I'm sure you'll be happy." Loki moved to stand closer, patting his shoulder.
"Thank you. She is pretty great." Thor's smile grew fond, no doubt from thoughts of her, "I'm sure you'll find the same happiness, brother."
"Doubtful." Loki said, shrugging. "Women are more interested in your type."
Thor laughed lowly, shaking his head. "No, there's someone out there for everyone."
"And those that die alone?" He challenged.
"They chose to be alone."
Loki scoffed, folding his arms. "I don't believe in such sentimental notions."
"You call it sentimental, I call it correct." Thor raised his hands slightly, shrugging. "I truly believe anyone could find someone, if they put forth enough effort…"
"Right." Loki's smile was tight again, his gaze going elsewhere. "I'd rather talk about something else. Anything else."
"Sorry." The blonde replied, smirking. "I think what's most surprising isn't me suddenly getting married, it's you being here without trying to overthrow me…again."
Loki grew serious all of a sudden, his brows furrowing. "You've proven to me you're worthy of the throne. I will no longer refute that."
Thor's eyes misted with a sentimental look he didn't care for. Loki sighed, avoiding his gaze.
"Thank you."
"You've matured, even." Loki added. "You're not nearly so hot-headed and arrogant."
"…thank you?"
"You're welcome."
Thor brushed a hand over his eye briefly, the one previously slashed by Hela, still unable to believe Loki had been able to restore it. In fact, it made him wonder why Loki hadn't done it while they were on the ship before Thanos' attack. According to the younger god, the patch had suited him. Apparently this newest eye was merely an illusion but it felt real, and he could see from it.
In any case, it was a bit better than the fake eye Rocket had given to him. Not that he didn't appreciate it, but still. The eye had been…well, in places it shouldn't have been. When the blonde snapped out of his thoughts, he noticed Loki had left already.

Footsteps made the warrior turn, her defenses ready. She relaxed when she saw it was Loki. Valkyrie still didn't trust him, but she supposed as long as Thor continued to defend him she'd have no choice but to deal with him being around. Besides that, he wasn't so awful after getting to know him. Loki had a certain charm to him.
"Hello." She forced a smile, downing a huge gulp of her drink. Wiping her mouth with her arm, she turned only to grin at the look on his face. "What?"
"You really should slow down. You only have one liver." Loki eyes fell to her bottle.
"Whatever. I don't give a shit."
"Clearly."
"Why do you care, anyway?" Her smirk grew wider.
"I don't." Loki's tone was cold and quiet, causing her eyes to widen a little as she backed off.
"Is there anything you wanted?" She asked.
"Not really. I'm fairly bored here." Loki admitted, looking out at the new Asgard.
Valkyrie leaned her elbows onto the balcony, also gazing out at the scenery. "It is quite boring. I would go back to Sakaar, but I highly doubt I'd be welcomed back by the Grandmaster."
"You and I both." Loki murmured, his eyes narrowing.

The wedding day arrived quickly and the palace was buzzing with excitement. People were gathered in the main hall whispering amongst themselves. Flowers were adorned everywhere with vines wrapped around the pillars.
Loki sat beside the female warrior, offering her a grin. She simply looked at him and turned to face forward. Smirking, he looked down at the floor instead.
"Lovely, isn't it?" Valkyrie asked to break the awkward silence.
"It is…" He agreed, folding his hands in his lap.
"You look like something's on your mind." The warrior noticed.
Pausing, he glanced at her as he thought of a lie quickly. There was no way he'd reveal his true thoughts to her. "I was simply wondering what your real name was. I tire of calling you Valkyrie. Technically that was a group of female warriors—including you."
"I know, but it's a hell of a lot better than my actual name."
"Which is?"
She scoffed, looking forward again. "Why should I tell you?"
"Is it that bad?" He smirked.
Rolling her eyes, she pursed her lips. "Fine. It's…quite unfortunate."
"Olga? Hilda?" He tried.
"Close."
He looked at her, before shaking his head. "Agnes?"
"You were warmer before." She teased, smiling widely.
"Just tell me."
"…Brunnhilde."
Loki's brow rose. "Oh, that is unfortunate."
"Very." She agreed, "I don't mind you all calling me Valkyrie, suits me just fine."
Their attention was drawn to the large double doors suddenly as Liv entered the room. Everyone grew hushed as she walked down the aisle slowly, the flowergirl littering petals before her. People smiled at their new queen as she passed. Tucking a loose brown curl behind her ear, she stilled a moment to smile at Loki and Valkyrie. They smiled in return, watching as she ascended the steps to stand across from Thor.
The blonde looked a little nervous. He smiled as she stood closer, taking her hands into his own. They were barely aware of the man speaking near them. It seemed surreal that he was finally getting married after all this time. After everything.
"Do you take this woman to be your wife?"
"I do."
"And you, Liv, do you take him to be your husband?"
Her smile widened, lighting her face. "I do."
"You may now kiss the bride."
Everyone applauded their new king and queen's union, standing up from their seats. Loki and Val exchanged a look, before smiling at the newly wedded couple. Korg clapped from where he stood nearby, walking up to the pair.
"Congrats, man." He inclined his head, bowing slightly.
"Thank you, Korg."
"Your parents would be very proud of you, I imagine. Not that I knew them, but, uh yeah."
Thor nodded, his smile faltering as a wistful expression took place. "I wish that they could be here."
"They are. In spirit."
