Sunset's lights

The sun was setting on Destiny Island and everything seemed to be going perfectly.

There was a sound of children laughing, as the lights of the fair lit up the little island. The smell of popcorn filled the air and the music from the rides seemed to go on forever.

For Riku, being the best friend of a hero was a little difficult. Though he often competed to get the attention of someone special, tonight was his night to take her out.

This is the love story of Riku and Kairi.

As the waves crashed against the shore, Riku and Kairi walked alongside them, as they made their way to the fair. Their were toes squishing in the sand.

Tonight was going to be amazing. He had it all planned out: he was going to take her on some rides; play one of those games and win her a stuffed animal or something; and take her for a walk on the moonlit beach.

Yeah, he knew it was cliché, but the way he felt for her could never be described in one word. His fingers laced around hers as they walked in the sand. Ahead of them, they could see the Ferris wheel and excitement filled Kairi's eyes. She tightened her grip of his hand as she started to run towards the fair pulling Riku with her.

As they arrived at the front gate, Riku pulled out a couple of prepaid tickets out of his back pocket. He placed them in the hands of the person working at the gate and then walked in with Kairi at his side. He stopped as soon as they got in and looked into her bright blue eyes filled with excitement.

"What would you like to go on first?" He asked.

Kairi smiled. "The merry-go-round," she replied, her eyes filled with delight.

They walked over to the merry-go-round and Riku gave the guy a couple of tokens. They walked around the merry-go-round, trying to find a spot where they could sit together. Children were laughing and having fun all around them as they finally found a spot.

Riku helped Kairi up on her horse and then hoisted himself on to the horse beside her. The music played as the ride started spinning. The smile on Kairi's face indicated that she was having a lot of fun.

Riku smiled back at her. The smile you'd usually find on his face was fake and plastered there or sarcastic but in a time like this it was one of those rare occasions where it was truly genuine.

When they got off the ride Kairi held her stomach sort of feeling a little nauseas but after a minute of sitting on the bench she was back and up on her feet moving through the thick crowd. They walked towards a small little ride at the end of the street, not as popular as other ones but it looked like fun.

It was small and very cute. Kairi dragged Riku there and got in the short line waiting for their turn. They got to the front of the line but couldn't get on the ride because they're already was enough people there.

They got on the ride and as it moved slowly around in a square Kairi's bright blue eyes lit up in the sun's setting lights. She looked at Riku and kissed him gently. "Thank you for this amazing night." She said with a smile.

After they were done on the ride Riku walked Kairi down to the beach where the waves crashed heavily. She sat down her toes squinting in the sand. Beside her Riku sat as the sun slowly and heavily heaved it's self below the surface of the ocean.

Kairi sat there and leaned her head on Riku's shoulder watching. He placed his arm around her waist as she said, "The sunset is so beautiful." And with that he kissed her and said, "So are you." Though his plans had changed he was happy that they were together.
