John,

It's been a while since I left, hasn't it? I wouldn't really know; time doesn't seem to exist here. The only indication left to me that things are still moving on is all of the people I left. You're still living. You're aging. You're moving on with your lives as you should be. You seem sad, John. Stop it. Sad doesn't suit you.

John,

It's quite boring here. Everyone's happy all the time and there aren't any crimes. I recognized a few people. That woman in pink found me a few days after I came up here. She thanked me for stopping the cabby. I told her it was you, not me, who really stopped him. She asked me why I was here so soon. I told her it wasn't important.

-SH

John,

People keep asking me to deduce things about them. They want to see how good I really am. Such a shame there's nothing I can tell them.

-SH

John,

Mrs. Hudson came up today. She was sad to leave you, and says she's going to miss everyone terribly, but it was her time to go. She said she's missed me, but I don't know why she would. All I did was muck about the flat and shoot holes in the walls. It is nice to finally have some company, though. I missed Mrs. Hudson.

-SH

John,

I wonder how Jim is doing. I'll bet it's a madman's playground where he ended up. Hell, I'll bet he finally got his crown.

-SH

John,

Wonderful wedding. A bit cliché, but nonetheless wonderful. Mrs. Hudson and I watched the whole ceremony. At least, I did. She had to step out for a moment to stop crying. Your wife is a lovely woman. We're proud of you, John.

-SH

John,

Congratulations on the little boy. I see you've called him Hamish. That's a good name. I was hoping you wouldn't get too sentimental and name him something ridiculous like Sherlock, and you delivered. Well done. I don't understand why you would want a tiny screaming human in the first place, but congratulations on him anyway. He's in a good home.

-SH

John,

I saw Mycroft today. I knew he'd end up here soon, I just didn't think it'd be today. I can't really say that I've missed him, but it's been quiet without his big mouth up here. Regardless of my feelings towards him, I suppose another familiar face is nice, even if we don't get along. Mrs. Hudson has already had to stop us fighting multiple times.

-SH

John,

I see you've got your cane back. You need it this time, don't you? I don't like to see you hobbling around with a cane, John. Stop it.

-SH

John,

Hamish has grown to be quite the intelligent young man. Not bad looking, either. I can tell that you're proud of him. You've been a good father and husband, John.

-SH

John,

Lestrade says hello. I didn't expect him to be here yet.

-SH

John,

Still fighting, aren't you? I can't stand to see you in that hospital bed, John. Just get better already. Being sick doesn't suit you.

-SH

John,

So, this is your last battle. I don't know if you heard the doctors, but I did. We'll all be waiting for you when you get here.

-SH

"It's been a long time, John."
