Ouranos' Tree

He certainly had not expected to be able to turn one of the Titans they had faced into a tree.

He had to admit it had been kind of ironic though, to turn Ouranos into a tree considering that he was the Titan of Light and trees needed light to survive.

Grover had been glad that he had finally been able to play something on his reed pipes that had actually worked. He had received help but all satyrs and nymphs knew that an entire enchantment could go wrong if even one note was off. He had been relieved at not messing up again.

It had been a creative melody that they had made up and Grover would have been hard pressed to mess up but knowing him, he probably could have. The other satyrs had thought of the idea as 'ingenious' or 'revolutionary' while Grover knew that all he had been trying to do was trap the Titan and not mess up.

Somehow he always ended up visiting that tree that once was the Titan of Light.

In the beginning, it had only been once a year. That once a year had turned into every six months that had quickly turned into every month than every other week.

He visited the tree every day now.

He still did not know why he was drawn to the tree that could have done so much damage had he been in his normal form. He often wondered if Ouranos was still aware of his surroundings in his wood prison and how much he could actually notice if he was aware. He sometimes even wondered if Ouranos could leave the tree as the nymphs did regularly.

He did not know whether it was the fact that the Titan was the one that was supposed to be able to control something as necessary or as natural as light or whether it was something else that led him to this very spot religiously.

He wished he could give this fascination, or whatever it was, up and finally move on from the battle that had decided the war almost a decade ago now.

Somehow he knew that he would not.
