A/N: HELLO M'PRECIOUS BLUEBERRIES! (Cookies for anyone who gets the reference!) Here's some post 3x10 for y'all. I...don't really have much else to say! ENJOY!
Disclaimer: I don not own Finn and Rachel, they belong to The Unholy Trinity. (No, the other one. The boy one.) "Star Mile" is another Joshua Radin song. So that's not mine, either.
She stared at it. Moved it gently back and forth. Watched how all the diamonds made their own beautiful rainbows in the sunlight. Maybe she'd put it on. Just for a few minutes.
She thought that maybe she shouldn't, that maybe there was something she needed to do first, to earn the right to wear it as if it were a gold metal, something she was worthy of.
But no, this was hers, this was theirs. She knew what she told him. And she meant it, didn't she?
Maybe for just a moment…
It didn't take him long to notice it. He picked her up at her dads' before meeting Kurt for dinner. She pushed her hair back behind her ear and he seen it shimmer in her porch light. His face split into a smile, and he looked ahead as he felt a wave a pride wash over him. He waited; bit his tongue and smiled a little wider. He held the truck door for her, and even offered his hand to help her in. She shot him a suspicious glare and got into the car under her own power. Finn nearly laughed that time.
He got in after her and sat in silence, trying not to look too smug, and watched her expectantly.
"What?" She said, trying and failing, to hide a smile.
"I thought we weren't getting engaged." He muttered bemusedly.
"We're not." Rachel replied, keeping her head low as if it could hide her grin.
Finn said nothing. He crossed his arms over his chest and stared pointedly at the ring on her right hand while raising his eyebrows in a silent, Well then?
"Shut up, Finn!" She said with a bemused inflection.
"I didn't say anything!"
"Finn Hudson!"
"Well, if I was going to say something it would be that that ring would look a hell of a lot better on your left hand, but I didn't say anything, so…"
"Finn," she warned, smile contradicting her tone, "We're going to be late for Breadstix."
"Alright dear, whatever you say," he teased, dropping the truck into gear.
They sat in silence for a few minutes, and Rachel slid closer, and closer until she was able to wrap her left arm around his non-driving, right arm.
"Finn?" She said, softly.
"Mmmm?"
"I will marry you. Someday."
He looked down and where their fingers tangled together. Watched how her right hand, ring and all, was draped over both of theirs. He watched as the streetlights reflected off the diamonds' surface and seen her thumb trace warm, soothing patterns over his knuckles.
He pulled the her right hand up to his mouth and kissed just below where the ring sat, "God, I hope so."
A/N2: DID YOU LIKE IT? It was a spur of the moment drabble originally posted on m'tumblr. If some cute boy gave me a beautiful ring, I'd wear it too... REVIEWS MAKE ME HAPPY, ALSO I WILL LOVE YOU.
