A/N just some drabble :)
Nobodies don't have hearts. Nobodies don't feel. Unfortunately this rule didn't seem to apply to pain.
"So you're really just gonna leave?" Something was twisting inside him, so tight he couldn't bare it; he thought he might snap in half. At least that would make it stop, thought dryly, make the anguish and hurt recede just a little. Idly he thought that it might wake him from whatever nightmarish reality he'd dreamed up, but he quashed that thought quickly, not letting the hope that rose with it solidify.
Letting out a ragged sigh his companion straightened up; dragging a hand through his straw coloured hair.
"Axel we've been through this"
"Yeah?" he growled, "'still don't fucking understand" He glared at his partner, his friend, his life. His eyes softened, "this doesn't make sense Rox." Roxas turned away from him, too afraid to meet those eyes, too afraid he'd change his mind.
"That's the point Axel. It doesn't make sense. I need to find answers that I know aren't here." The silence that stretched between them was heavy and uncomfortable.
"You're so full of crap." Came the soft voice from behind him; effectively shattering the stiffness in the air. Roxas span around to face his fiery friend; finally meeting those blazing green eyes. "You don't need answers, none of us do," The redhead's voice steadily increased as his anger rose; flames flicking through his fingers, "you just want them. We're nobodies Roxas, we don't get answers," breathing unsteadily he passed a hand across his eyes and chuckled wryly, "we barely even exist."
"…Axel"
"No no, I know, you have some quest that's more important than any of this," he gestured around himself, "more important than us," and in a much quieter voice, "than me."
With his eyes downcast he didn't see Roxas cross the room until his fingers were under his chin, forcing it up and his lips on his, bruising in their effort to show he meant everything. But it didn't matter, it wasn't enough.
Pulling back Roxas stared into his eyes, resting their foreheads together. Pastel blue met piercing green; a silent apology in one and quiet desperation in the other.
The moment passed and both slid their eyes away. Roxas began to retreat but as he stepped back a hand shot out to cling to his sleeve.
"…please" It was barely a whisper; broken. If Roxas had had a heart he was sure that one word would have broken it. "Rox" There was resignation in his voice this time.
Clenching his eyes shut Roxas carefully reached down and pried the fingers from his coat; fingers lingering on the other hand just a moment longer that necessary.
"I'm sorry…Axel" He whispered the name, savoured it, and left without a backward glance.
Thankyou :)
