Best Christmas
What a Christmas it was turning out to be. The teenage girl refused to move from her bed on that particular snowy Christmas morning. Her parents were probably still at that stupid Christmas party that she had come home early from – thank god for magic – because it was filled with older drunk people. Finally after being able to wait no longer for her presents she pushed all thoughts of sleeping in out of her mind and swung her feet over the edge of the bed and placed them on the freezing cold floor.
She tried running her fingers through her tangled brown hair, but it didn't work out too well. She shuffled down the stairs and took a detour into the small kitchen. Unlike most people like her, her kitchen was full of small electrical appliances. She yanked two slices of bread out of the bread drawer and popped them into the toaster. While her bread was toasting she poured herself a bowl of cereal. Ding! The toast shot up, all nice and…toasted.
She slapped some jam on the toast and gobbled it down, while also eating her cereal. Once she was finished with breakfast, her dirty dishes went into the dishwasher. Now finally, time for the presents. She rubbed her eyes with the back of her hands before she stumbled into the living room. What she saw really came as a shock to her. Her jaw dropped slightly and her whole body froze.
"Ron?" She asked hoarsely. The red head gave her a small smile and glanced around. He stood beside the tree in his jeans and sweater with a card tied to a ribbon around his wrist.
"Merry Christmas." He said holding the card out to her. Hesitantly she stepped forward and untied it, opening the card and reading it in awe.
I didn't know how else to tell you Merry Christmas, so I showed up here, and I really wanted to surprise you. No enchanted chocolates or jewelry would be able to tell you how much I really love you. All I wanted for Christmas was you, and I hoped that you wanted me to. I love you, Hermione Granger. Merry Christmas and Best Wishes, Ronald Weasley.
She looked up from the card, tears welling up behind her eyes. She gave a small laugh causing his smile to widen.
"Merry Christmas, Ron." She said lunging at him, her arms snaked around his neck as she began sobbing into his shoulder. He gave a laugh of joy and lifted her off the ground a little, turning in a circle a few times before setting her back down. Now she wished she had come down earlier, this really was the best Christmas ever.
