I don't own Supernatural but everything else is mine.
A small town just outside Seattle:
Dean Winchester was about to take a large bite into his double bacon cheeseburger when he started to get chest pains. They were small and short at first but quickly grew to the point where he couldn't hold onto his burger anymore. He dropped it onto the motel's carpet floor and fell over. He clutched tightly at his chest where his heart is located and waited out the pain. It lasted about five seconds but it felt like forever. It felt like an endless pain of suffering to Dean and after it was gone he stayed on the ground.
Seattle:
Lily Marshal fell over as the blood pooled around her and soaked into her clothing. It was wet, warm and oozing. She never pictured her death to be this way, this messy, and this painful. She held on for a good five long, tired seconds before she let go and knew no more.
Castiel watched in fascination and sadness. He felt a pull to go down there and save her, for Dean, but ignored it. It wasn't his place to interfere. In a month's time Dean Winchester would die and only then would he be able to interfere with human lives.
He tilted his head and if he were human, he would have sighed. It was a shame. If Lily hadn't forgotten her sheet music she would be alive. If she had remembered then she wouldn't have gone home. If she had got enough sleep then she wouldn't have been so forgetful. If… If… If… So many if's.
Castiel looked down and away from the humans. Helping Dean Winchester was something he was assigned to do, but only after he died. Right now he was alive and Castiel could only watch. He could only watch as Dean Winchester's soulmate, his last chance of real, true happiness died a horrible death by the hands of her estranged brother.
If… If… If…
If only…
