SEIFER

Black Sun at Midnight

When you looked to the sky, you see the sun.
The sun is bright, the sun is yellow.
The sun looks red to me.
Red, the color of anger.
Does this mean...?

Negative emotions, swirling about.
Negative emotions, screaming my name.
They beg, they plead.
They call out your name.

Red, the sum of all emotions;
the color everyone envies, turning them green.
Red is rising, rising from the dead.

What happens when the sun sets?
The moon rises. The moon is dull, the moon is white.
White, the color of purity.
Does this mean?

Positive emotions, slowly dying down.
Positive emotions, are they all the same?
They laugh, they cry.
They are all different, so they say.

White, the cause of all happiness,
is also a sign of death. So this undercurrent color
is surely a cover, for what comes next.

What happens when the moon falls?
All you see is black...
Dark...
Into the night,
which is no
longer.

No emotions are held...
All is concealed
in the color
of hate... pain, and sorrow.
Much worse than any regular
negative emotion is able.
