Let It Snow
The snow is falling and I can't see two feet in front of me, thought Anakin Skywalker with a sigh. He was quite irritated that he and Master Obi-Wan got stranded in such a miserably cold planet such as Hoth in the first place. After all it wasn't HIS fault that the ship they had borrowed for their trip to Coruscant was faulty. And unfortunately they were stuck here until they got picked up by Master Siri Tachi who was a few systems away.
So Obi-Wan had suggested they take a short walk, even though Anakin totally despised the idea of putting on his heavy thermal coat and go trekking around in weather that was never meant for humans in the first place.
And for some reason that he couldn't fathom, Obi-Wan actually seemed to be enjoying himself. Anakin would prefer to be tinkering with their ship, not trying to keep up with his master and trying to ignore the nuisance of the falling snow.
"Master," Anakin said, in short gasping breaths.
Obi-Wan stopped and turned to his padawan. "Yes, Anakin?"
"Why are we doing this?" Anakin asked.
"Isn't it invigorating?" Obi-Wan replied with a small grin.
"That's not exactly the word I would chose," was Anakin's bitter reply.
"I would think you would enjoy it," Obi-Wan mused. "As this is the total opposite of your homeworld."
Obi-Wan did have a point, Anakin had to admit. He really did loathe Tatooine, the world in which he spent the first nine years of his life. Nothing was quite as annoying as sand getting in embarrassing places. But this place did come close; he hated the snow coating his eyebrows, hair and every other bit of skin he had exposed.
"Snow is almost as bad as sand," Anakin answered. "The only good thing is that it will melt…That would depend on us getting of this frozen icebox of course."
Obi-Wan chuckled. "Padawan, you still haven't understood why I suggested taking this walk."
"You mean there was a reason behind it?" Anakin asked. "Other than freezing of course."
Obi-Wan shook his head and frowned, though Anakin could see a spark of mischief in his master's gaze.
"You see Anakin, as a Jedi you must always be able to ignore your physical discomforts and to pay attention to your surroundings," Obi-Wan pointed out.
"But what is there to pay attention to, Master?" Anakin asked looking around at the infinite white landscape.
"The fact that we're walking in circles for one," Obi-Wan stated. "Secondly, while you were distracted, you failed to notice…"
Suddenly out of nowhere, a frozen ball of freezing snow hit Anakin's cheek. He wiped it off and glared at Obi-Wan who merely shrugged, smiled faintly and said. "My point exactly. Now Padawan, I suggest we return back to the ship. Siri will be here any mom--"
Obi-Wan never had the chance to finish speaking, as he suddenly had a mouthful of snow.
"Master," Anakin scolded. "Now what was that you were saying about—oh yes, not letting yourself be distracted."
Obi-Wan just rolled his eyes.
