A/N Hey, I put the lyrics at the top so that y'all would know the less obvious references. You can skip if necessary.
RAOUL
No more talk of darkness,
forget these wide-eyed fears;
I'm here, nothing can harm you,
my words will warm and calm you.
Let me be your freedom,
let daylight dry your tears;
I'm here, with you, beside you,
to guard you and to guide you.
CHRISTINE
Say you love me every waking moment,
turn my head with talk of summertime.
Say you need me with you now and always;
promise me that all you say is true,
that's all I ask of you.
RAOUL
Let me be your shelter,
let me be your light;
you're safe, no one will find you,
your fears are far behind you.
CHRISTINE
All I want is freedom,
a world with no more night;
and you, always beside me,
to hold me and to hide me.
RAOUL
Then say you'll share with me one love, one lifetime;
let me lead you from your solitude.
Say you need me with you, here beside you,
anywhere you go, let me go too,
Christine, that's all I ask of you
CHRISTINE
Say you'll share with me one love, one lifetime;
say the word and I will follow you.
TOGETHER
Share each day with me,
each night, each morning.
CHRISTINE
Say you love me!
RAOUL
You know I do.
RAOUL & CHRISTINE
Love me, that's all I ask of you.
(they kiss)
Anywhere you go, let me go too!
Love me, that's all I ask of you.
She had meant it symbolically. Apparently, Raoul hadn't.
"RAOUL! Get out of here!" He had followed her into their outhouse again. "You have got to stop doing this!" she cried. "I need my privacy!"
Raoul looked at her peevishly. "I'll have you know, I'm highly affronted. We both sang 'anywhere you go, let me go too.' This includes the restroom."
Christine sighed with frustration. "I'm menstruating right now, Raoul. This is very disgusting."
Raoul stood his ground stubbornly. "I like apple pie and sunshine and picnics in July." Christine stared at him. He stared back for a few seconds before asking "Why aren't you turning your head? Turn your head!"
"Raoul, you're being far too literal about this. I don't have to turn my head every time you talk of summertime!"
"But you promised me you would," he whined petulantly. "I knew it was a bad idea for me to promise you that all I said was true and not have you do the same."
"Raoul. It was a song of metaphorical romance. Now that we're married, that's over with. Romance isn't necessary anymore. Now get out of here, NOW!"
Raoul spluttered and sputtered a few times, but to no avail. He grumbled to himself and walked out of the outhouse. When Christine had finished with her business, she started to push open the door when it was flung from her hands. Raoul grabbed her by the wrist and started to drag her to the house.
"Here Christine! Let me lead you from your solitude!" he chirped cheerfully. This was the last straw.
"That's enough!" she screamed and with a loud crack, her hand met his cheek. She stalked off angrily. Within the hour, she had arrived at Erik's lair in the basement of the Opera House. With little effort, she talked him into marriage and she lived happily ever after with the Phantom of the Opera. Because he's not a whiny bitch like Raoul.
