Summary: Sirius's life was full of pain and sorrow, bitterness and despair. This is a poem about Sirius and what he has endured. Warning: OotP spoilers.

Disclaimer: I do not own Sirius or anything else having to do with Harry Potter. Big surprise there, huh?

A Life Once Loved Now Lost

His eyes were full of sorrow,
His freedom full of tears;
He lost his innocence in Azkaban,
It only took twelve years.
He endured the horrid hardships,
But he'd never be the same;
They sucked away his happiness,
Until he fit his name.

He used to be so carefree,
A prankster to the core;
He was locked away in Azkaban,
What is justice for?
The rat whose fault it truly was,
Slipped away into the night;
And he was left to take the blame,
Whatever happened to what's right?

Then one day he got away,
His thoughts bent on revenge;
He wished to make the bastard pay,
He had two long dead friends to avenge.
But more important than all that,
Was the godson he never really knew;
He wished he could give him a home,
And they could both start up anew.

Then darkness rose once again,
From bone and flesh and blood;
Before he ever had the chance,
To once again find love.
The Dark Lord planned an evil trick,
His godson he meant to kill;
He fought that day unto his death,
Then slipped behind the veil.

Author's Note: This poem is not nearly as vague as most of my others. I've always thought that Sirius was a very interesting character, though sad and sorrowful. The first few lines came to me when I was driving home one day and I just knew that I had to write a poem about it. I hope you enjoyed it. If you have any questions or comments, please leave a review or send me an email; I'd be happy to receive them and to address any confusion you may have had concerning the poem.
