A/N: I own nothing. At all. I probably need a beta to be honest. And reviews are awesome. This is a slow start to this story and many apologies!
Hermione checked her clock and sighed. The clock was moving far too slow for a Friday when she had plans with the boys and Ginny. Fuck it, she thought. She worked enough extra hours this week she could leave early. Hermione packed up her bag and tidied up her desk. She grabbed her cloak and bag and bid her coworkers goodbye, making her way to the Floo Hall.
Hermione walked through her door and set her bag down to take off her winter things. She set some hot water in the kettle for tea and unpacked her bag and organized her things to go over. Hermione poured the water over her tea to steep and changed into stretch pants.
She read a few articles in a journal glanced at the clock. Should I continue reading or nap? She pondered. I am meeting them in 3 hours. It's going to be a late night. Drinks with friends usually did. They'd meet at 8 at the pub and she'd stumble through the door around 2. This was especially true since Ginny started having kids and was only writing part time. Harry and her had the 2 boys and getting adult time was few and far between and greatly taken advantage of.
Ron and Harry were Aurors. What she knew of the case load they'd been on in the past two years had been steady, but not particularly challenging. Which is how they both like it. Ron was dating a bird from the ministry in the legal department. She was a paralegal of some sort, but Hermione could recall her name. She knew they were getting serious.
Hermione worked in the Magical Creatures Department. She'd been in the same position for about 4 years and enjoyed it immensely. It looked like she was going to be promoted soon and would have her own office instead of sharing space with six others.
She set a charm to wake her up so shed have time to get up and get ready. After waking, she showered and made a small dinner for herself. Hermione threw on a bit of makeup and charmed her hair a bit and put on a skirt with boots and tights and a loose 3/4 sleeve blouse. Hermione glanced in the mirror and was satisfied and apperated to the Three Broomsticks.
She walked down Diagon Alley public they were supposed to me with a cold putting a flush on her pale cheeks. Took a seat at the bar and ordered a butterbeer waiting for her friends. The bartender, pretty blonde bird, asked if she was waiting on a group. Apparently Ginny had sent an owl, saying that she was going to be late as the boys had come down with something and she was trying to make them feel better before Molly came to babysit. Ron and Harry were also going to be late due to a case they were working on. Hermione sighed.
"Hun, can I get a shot of Odgen's Finest, please?" Hermione asked. The blonde smiled and a shot appeared in front of her. Hermione tossed it back and started looking around the room. It was busy and she was thankful for the entertainment of people watching. Who knew how long they were going to keep her waiting. She spotted classmates speckled in with the other patrons. She sipped slowly on her butterbeer and watched to bar progress.
She spotted a rich hearty laugh ring out from a corner booth of the pub and glanced over. Malfoy and Goyle were sitting there laughing about some joke another Slytherin made. Zambini? She couldn't quite remember the classmate's name. She smiled to herself at the good time they looked to be having and wished that her friends were going to be there soon to enjoy their company as well.
She let her attention slide to the different patrons and ordered another drink, getting lost in the atmosphere and music that filled her ears. Watching a game or two of magical darts seemed to fill up some of her time until she was rudely knocked off her bar stool.
"Damn mudblood's in the way!"
