Cas sat in the tree that he and Dean had claimed as theirs when they were younger. Now they were 18 and in love, but the fact of being gay didn't go over well with most of the rest of their school. It was their freshman year when they got together and came out.

Castiel had decided that he had had enough bullshit from all the other teens at school. Even though it was their senior year, at Lawrence High School, he decided to do it. What he'd prepared his whole life for, the way he knew he'd go out. Suicide.

He pulled out the folded note that he had wrote for his boyfriend, Dean Winchester, love of his life. He pinned the note to his jeans and put the noose around his neck. He lowered himself until he was hanging onto the branch, ready to let go.

He was counting down his breaths until he would fall into painful nothingness.

One. He took a deep breath.

Two. He closed his eyes.

Three. He let go.

The last thing he saw was very distinct, it was his favorite part about Dean, his painfully beautiful eyes. Green as the blossoms in the spring. Then all of a sudden he felt nothing, everything that had become too much… just… left with his last breath as his eyes flutters closed. He was dead.

Dean was the one to find him, before Cas even climbed the tree he texted Dean to be at their tree in a half an hour. When Dean saw something hanging from the tree, he ran as fast as he could. When he finally saw that it was his best friend, boyfriend, and the only person he loved, besides Sammy.

He fell to the ground and laid there for an hour before pulling out his pocket knife and cutting Castiel down to place him on the cold, snowy ground. Dean noticed the letter, and with shaky hands unclipped it from Cas' pants.

The note read-

Dear Dean,

I'm so sorry, I never mint to hurt you this much, but with all the bullying and abuse that happens to me on a daily basis, it has become too much. I know… I'm a coward for taking this way out, but in the long run I kinda knew I would always do this. I just wanted you to know how much I love you, and how much I am sorry. I love you so much. ―Cas

P.S. — I left my matching Po let knife in my left pocket, it's all I really want you to have, because it's all I really have and it is the most important thing to me, because…. Because you gave it to me.

Three weeks later after the funeral which only consisted of Dean, Sammy, and Gabriel, Cas' brother, attending it. Sam and Gabriel left clutching to each other as if they let go, the other would disappear and they would be lost forever.

Dean stayed back at Cas' grave, his craved stone was plain with just Castiel Novak printed across the top. It's beautiful, just like him. Dean thought staring at the gravestone. He reached into his pocket and grabbed a small velvet box out.

"Cas, you know… I love you so much," he started as if Castiel was standing right next to him. "and I just wanted you to know that… you were everything to me." With that he dug a small hole above where Castiel was buried and placed the small box in it. "Castiel Novak, Will you marry me?" he asked looking at the gravestone, then buried the box never forgetting.

He'd gone to Cas' grave for five weeks straight. He couldn't take it anymore, every time he'd see the gravestone he cry harder than the day before. Until one day he couldn't do it, he was going to go to Cas' grave. One. More. Time.

When the police found Dean he had shot himself on Cas' grave. The only thing he had was a small note. All it said was,

Hey,

Whoever is reading this, please, if you know me at all you know exactly why I did this. Tell Sammy I'm so sorry. -D
