But soft, what light through yonder window breaks
It is the east, and Juliet is the sun
Romeo; II.i.
The masked ball
The Gryffindor common room had been transformed, it was now the brightest room in Hogwarts. All the windows had been thrown open to welcome in the cool evening air but the room was still warm from the many masked people dancing around within. All the walls had been draped in silk tapestries depicting their ancestors and the whole room was aglow with candle light.
On one side of the room, there was a table heaving under the stress of the food that had been prepared for the evening. Standing beside the table was a young girl, her beauty no longer hidden behind a mask, she was unaware that she was being watched by most of the men in the room. She was Hermione, daughter to the Lord and Lady Potter, her faced was pink from the dancing and she allowed her hair to flow easily down her back.
Not five feet away there stood another man watching her, he had silvery blonde hair and grey eyes that were trained on Hermione as she tentatively picked up a small cake from the table and shot a suspicious look at two of her twin cousins, who were hanging around the food table surreptitiously.
This can't be right the man thought I will take a better look at her and see she has some flaw in her appearance, she can't be perfect can she?
The only trouble was, the closer he got, the prettier she seemed. Finally next to her, he pulled off his mask, thinking that it must be clouding his vision.
Now standing next to her he knew he was looking at perfection, and in a Gryffindor no less. This family had been feuding with his for generations, and here he was, Draco Malfoy, completely taken in by the beautiful woman before him.
Without thinking of the consequences, as he very rarely did, Draco closed the space between them even further and took her hand.
Hermione turned, her soft brown eyes widened slightly with surprise to see a very handsome man before her.
A/N:
Just a starter offer… thing. Tell me what you think, shall I continue with the whole Romeo and Juliet thing?
Yes, no, reviews?
