- Phone Calls -

Kurt/Finn

Glee.

Disclaimer: I do not own Glee.

He was sick and tired of answering the phone. Like what Mr. Schue asked them, he always answered the phone with seven simple words that he wished could stay with the callers. It had been ten years and they don't know? Sometimes, Kurt wondered what kind of town he landed in. His dad made him answer the phone almost always, and he never could remember the last time he said hello through that telephone.

"No, she's dead. This is her son."

Well, it's not like any of his friends would call him through the landline. He had his own phone, and it seemed good that way - he didn't have to explain if he accidentally hello's Mercedes with those seven words. Everyone knew his personal phone number. Well, everyone at Glee club, at least.

That's why, after numerous calls from several high school friends of his mom through the phone, Kurt had had enough of it. He vowed that the next time he'd answer the phone, he won't even bother hearing who it is. As if he knows any of his mom's friends personally.

Kurt rolled his eyes and picked up the phone and, without caring who or what kind of living being is on the other side of the line, he breathed in deep and said,

"No, she's dead. This is her son." He was even planning to slam it down. I mean, who doesn't get tired after so many calls?

The voice surprised him. It wasn't one of those old ladies or his mom's friends that he never even heard of in his entire life. The person on the other side was actually somebody different, and he didn't even expect it.

"Umm, Kurt? Is that you?"

It was Finn.

Honestly. "Oh, uh, Finn! Why are you calling me through this number?"

"I, um... I kinda lost your personal phone number, so..."

Kurt's heart fluttered with delight. He didn't even care how Finn got this number. What mattered was that Finn Hudson was calling him. Here. Now. And he didn't really care what Finn wanted to talk about. As long as Finn was on the other line, it's okay, so...

"Kurt! What are you doing?" Burt Hummel's voice echoed through the halls and reached Kurt's ears. "Come on down here, I need your help."

"Okay dad. I'll be right there."

Disappointed, he returned to the line. "Okay, Finn. I'm sorry but I have to go now. Dad needs me. List down my number so you won't forget."

And through the phone, he dictated his personal number. Reluctantly, he hung up and went to his dad. But that really wasn't too much of a problem. He had Finn's call to look forward to.

A/n: That. Sucked. :)) I felt like I just needed to write something, and after watching Hell-O, I had this idea. I don't really know where to place this. I mean, given that Kurt seemed to answer most calls with "No, she's dead. This is her son," I guess it would fit in pre-Hell-O. So maybe this happens during, say, Ballad?
